Death By FISA

Here's what happens to real live troops on the battlefield when the left is allowed to interfere with sanity. From Ace:

Last May, Iraqi terrorists kidnapped three American soldiers.

American intelligence officials searched for cyber-signals about the kidnapping... and actually found them. They found the kidnappers talking to each other on-line.

However, they had to stop listening because the signals were passing through an American-based server and under the law that meant there could be no eavesdropping without a warrant.

So they stopped listening in on foreign terrorists holding kidnapped American soldiers.

For ten hours, officials worked to get "emergency authorization" to resume eavesdropping.

This then required the personal okay of AG Gonzales, who couldn't be reached for two hours.

So a 12 hour gap after the kidnappers had been discovered.
Idiots will be delighted that the system works so well to quell their fears of being spied upon by the evil George W. Bush, albeit leaving three kidnapped American soldiers to be tortured by Islamofascist savages, beheaded and lashed together, their bodies gutted and then stuffed with C6 explosives before being tossed out onto the street. All that is the result of the idiots' wishes, which paved the road to those soldiers' hellish deaths.

I wonder what good old Great Uncle Tommy who fought and died in WWII would have thought of his idiot great-nephew's willingness to let him meet that same fate at the hands of those animals, for whom the idiot great-nephew argues for full access to U.S. courts and full rights under the U.S. Constitution. But even after Uncle Tommy gets tortured, killed, beheaded, disembowelled, stuffed with C-6 and thrown out onto the road as bait, the idiots who argue for his tormentors' rights are surely not to blame. The victims of their poor judgement should have known not to obey their stupid laws under those exact circumstances. I mean, what the fuck were you thinking, you right-wing dolts?

Confronted with the bad outcomes caused by their ridiculous laws, Democrats always seem to argue, basically, that people should ignore the law when necessary. They insinuated that when the DoJ determined it did not have legal cause to examine Zaccharias Moussaui’s laptop without a warrant, for example: They should have just had the foresight to know they should ignore the law and search for 9/11 plots on that laptop.

This is not a tolerable view of the law nor how the law should function. True enough, there will be cases where any sane man will ignore the law when life hangs in the balance. But the Democrats just continue to pander to their paranoid BDS MoveOn voters with very restrictive and impractical laws, and then just parry criticisms of these laws away with vague insinuations that soldiers and CIA operatives ought to be brave enough to risk their careers in ignoring the laws they've made when "appropriate." "Appropriate" being defined as when it turns out, in the perfect clarity of hindsight, that their laws cost human lives.
This video from FOX makes that very point thanks to Democrat House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre Reyes, who of course blames government functionaries for bad idiot policy that killed three young soldiers, but just in that one case. Otherwise the government functionaries are doing a helluva job.

Power Line: This infuriating state of affairs will continue if the Democrats get their way.

Mahmoud's Legacy

Power Line tells the story of Karnit Goldwasser, whose husband was kidnapped and probably murdered by Hezbollah in July 2006.
On Tuesday, she had the opportunity to confront the man who, more than anyone else, controls the organization that kidnapped her husband and either murdered him, or still holds him prisoner. The moderator called on her for a question. She was, as always, calm and intelligent:

"Why are you not allowing the Red Cross to visit them?" Karnit Goldwasser asked of her husband Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, who was kidnapped with him. When Ahmadinejad didn't respond to her questioning, despite her having been called on by the moderator, she asked, "How come you're not answering me?"

Mahmoud appeared stunned; he looked around the room for someone to take him off the hook. The United Nations cut the power to Mrs. Goldwasser's microphone. She was escorted from the room, and Ahmadinejad, the distinguished lecturer, continued his press conference and his triumphal tour of New York, which included a dinner with Brian Williams, Christiane Amanpour, and other distinguished journalists and academics. And thugs handed out leaflets that said, "Kill the Jews."

Another Phony Idiot Phreakout

Juan Cole is all aflame over the secret Bush-Aznar memo. All I can say is BFD, which is pretty much what Pajamas Media's Jose Guardia says along with his posting of an accurate translation of the memo. In fact, the memo actually provides further proof that there were not only WMDs in Iraq, but that Saddam was asking through the Egyptians to get away with a billion dollars cash and all the information on those WMDs. Just to pre-emptively clarify against the inevitable idiot waffling, here's the exact quote from Bush in the memo:

“The Egyptians are talking with Saddam Hussein. It seems he has hinted he’d be willing to leave if he’s allowed to take 1 billion dollars and all the information on WMDs.”

I guess Juan Cole was so lost in the throes of an idiotgasm that he missed that particular nuance, or layer, or whatever the word is these days for "Inconvenient Truth".

To me there was no question Bush was going to invade Iraq at this point. For all his hysteria, it remains for Cole or anyone else on the planet to back up his moronic claim that that was an impeachable action. That's just more of the same old boring idiot fairy-shit it's always been. The fact is, if Bush could have been impeached, he would have been impeached, long before now. I know that's how the world would be if idiot fairy-shit was magical, but it's not.

So in service to Juan Cole and his ilk, here's some positive reinforcement, a refreshing incantation:

"Soy un idiota izquierdista y nunca aprendo."

My Brother's Keepers: George Soros' Attack On Democracy

UPDATED
Idiots flock to liars and manipulators like Jesse MacBeth and Scott Thomas Beauchamp as their heroes, so you know how easily they are duped by cranks preying on their ideological gullibility. The worst of these cranks is idiot-hero George Soros, who is the subject of an Investor's Business Daily editorial series.

The series skillfully illustrates Soros' MO: buy a gaggle of stooges whose pet causes will provide cover for Soros' corrosive agenda, then run them like double agents to his own ends. As the case of NASA "scientist" James Hansen well illustrates, all it takes to buy an ideological dupe is money, and Soros has plenty of that. It's an effective strategy: Soros sinks hundreds of millions of dollars into the slickly packaged world of NGOs, toward which idiots so mindlessly genuflect.

Might as well run this whole thing. Weep, idiots, for your gullibility:

Democracy: George Soros is known for funding groups such as MoveOn.org that seek to manipulate public opinion. So why is the billionaire's backing of what he believes in problematic? In a word: transparency.

How many people, for instance, know that James Hansen, a man billed as a lonely "NASA whistleblower" standing up to the mighty U.S. government, was really funded by Soros' Open Society Institute , which gave him "legal and media advice"?

That's right, Hansen was packaged for the media by Soros' flagship "philanthropy," by as much as $720,000, most likely under the OSI's "politicization of science" program.

That may have meant that Hansen had media flacks help him get on the evening news to push his agenda and lawyers pressuring officials to let him spout his supposedly "censored" spiel for weeks in the name of advancing the global warming agenda.

Hansen even succeeded, with public pressure from his nightly news performances, in forcing NASA to change its media policies to his advantage. Had Hansen's OSI-funding been known, the public might have viewed the whole production differently. The outcome could have been different.

That's not the only case. Didn't the mainstream media report that 2006's vast immigration rallies across the country began as a spontaneous uprising of 2 million angry Mexican-flag waving illegal immigrants demanding U.S. citizenship in Los Angeles, egged on only by a local Spanish-language radio announcer?

Turns out that wasn't what happened, either. Soros' OSI had money-muscle there, too, through its $17 million Justice Fund. The fund lists 19 projects in 2006. One vaguely described involvement in the immigration rallies. Another project funded illegal immigrant activist groups for subsequent court cases.

So what looked like a wildfire grassroots movement really was a manipulation from OSI's glassy Manhattan offices. The public had no way of knowing until the release of OSI's 2006 annual report.

Meanwhile, OSI cash backed terrorist-friendly court rulings, too.

Do people know last year's Supreme Court ruling abolishing special military commissions for terrorists at Guantanamo was a Soros project? OSI gave support to Georgetown lawyers in 2006 to win Hamdan v. Rumsfeld — for the terrorists.

OSI also gave cash to other radicals who pressured the Transportation Security Administration to scrap a program called "Secure Flight," which matched flight passenger lists with terrorist names. It gave more cash to other left-wing lawyers who persuaded a Texas judge to block cell phone tracking of terrorists.

They trumpeted this as a victory for civil liberties. Feel safer?

It's all part of the $74 million OSI spent on "U.S. Programs" in 2006 to "shape policy." Who knows what revelations 2007's report will bring around events now in the news?

OSI isn't the only secretive organization that Soros funds. OSI partners with the Tides Foundation, which funnels cash from wealthy donors who may not want it known that their cash goes to fringe groups engaged in "direct action" — also known as eco-terrorism.

On the political front, Soros has a great influence in a secretive organization called
"Democracy Alliance" whose idea of democracy seems to be government controlled solely by Democrats.

"As with everything about the Democracy Alliance, the strangest aspect of this entire process was the incessant secrecy. Among the alliance's stated values was a commitment to political transparency — as long as it didn't apply to the alliance," wrote Matt Bai, describing how the alliance was formed in 2005, in his book "The Argument: Billionaires, Bloggers and the Battle to Remake Democratic Politics."

Soros' "shaping public policies," as OSI calls it, is not illegal. But it's a problem for democracy because it drives issues with cash and then only lets the public know about it after it's old news.

That means the public makes decisions about issues without understanding the special agendas of groups behind them.

Without more transparency, it amounts to political manipulation. This leads to cynicism. As word of these short-term covert ops gets out, the public grows to distrust what it hears and tunes out.

The irony here is that Soros claims to be an advocate of an "open society." His OSI does just the legal minimum to disclose its activities. The public shouldn't have to wait until an annual report is out before the light is flipped on about the Open Society's political action.

UPDATE
Another of George Soros' front organizations is Media Matters, whose mandate is to feed lies to gullible idiots and the MSM. Personal attacks, distortion and outright lies are their stock in trade. They rely on the ignorance and intellectual slovenliness of their followers to unthinkingly perpetuate their lies in the idiot blogs and in MSM venues like CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, etc. Typical of their work is their despicable portrayal of Bill O'Reilly as a racist. I can just hear all the leftards clucking their tongues that they knew it all along, but that's the sort of thinking that makes them leftards to begin with. Instead, they should watch this:

As O'Reilly himself points out, he's not important in the long run, but choosing the right person for President of the United States is very important, and exposing Media Matters' lies, their agenda, their destructive puppetmaster George Soros and his legion of pliant sycophants is crucial to our future.

Military Trials Back On

I can't say that I ever saw the explicit need to describe captured non-uniformed terrorist asshole enemy combatants as "illegal", since any non-uniformed terrorist asshole enemy combatant is "illegal" under the Geneva Conventions. That's essentially what this ruling says in admonishing Judge Brownback and, of course, what this blog has said all along. But whatever: go ahead and make the obvious redundantly so. Bounce the rubble, if you will.

The first candidate for trial could be Omar Khadr. Good.

There will be other appeals, some perhaps even based on the jag-off leftist fantasy that being captured by American Marines whilst committing atrocities against Geneva automatically confers upon the captive the full range of American Constitutional rights, because to not do so makes us Worse Than The Terrorists™.

For today at least, sanity wins and idiots will cry.

HT: The Eeeeevil LGF!

Not A Rhetorical Question

How stupid can you get? Tim Blair answers:

I’ve been recording leftist stupidity for years now, and this is a new peak. This is Olympian; in fact, this is Olympian with anabolic stupoids.
This story reminds me of the time a leftard tried to make the case for George W. Bush's Criminal! Obtuseness! by breathlessly asserting that, post-9/11, Bush had told his cabinet, "I don't want to hear any more bad news".

True story, I swear to God.

I had to point out to the poor idiot that what the Prez meant was, "let's go get some wins against these animals." I actually had to use the example of Bush telling John Ashcroft, "Don't let it happen again," the revelation being not that he blamed Ashcroft personally for 9/11, but that he wanted the Attorney General to do everything in his power to prevent another attack from within.

How simple is that, yet how difficult for a BDS-fevered idiot to understand? I mean, I wince with embarrassment for this idiot whenever I recall the sheer willpower it took to not simply laugh at him, so oblivious was he of the irony of being even more obtuse than he was accusing Bush of being.

Things haven't changed: idiots are now convinced that Dubya doesn't know Nelson Mandela is still alive. Nnn'duhh.

Let's face it: the idiot left is populated by, well, idiots. Hence the term.

Oh yes, and I love the subtext that develops around Bush's Crime! of absconding with Mandela as a symbol.

Anyway, some quotes, just for laughs:
George Bush still conspires to surprise with another incredible dose of the stupid.

Bush is in heavy rationalisation mode now. Blame the victim.

Bush is stupid because he is a head of state who does not know that one of the most famous men in the world is still alive and dancing.

It’s stupid because it’s taking a car running the tyres bald, cooking them engine, driving it into a ditch and then asking where all the Brabhams have gone.

Oh, and right about now I think I should say something about a turkey……but I won’t (Whew! That was close... ~Ed.).

Tim and his almost entirely extinct Bush claquer confreres clutch the straw of the imagined and spurious distinction between Bushes “Mandelas” and the supposedly more sensible “people like Mandela”. (WTF ~Ed.)

Actually, I fail to see any parallels whatsoever between South Africa and Iraq - the analogy certainly doesn’t seem to have occurred to Nelson Mandela - and only a dumbass like Bush would imply there are some. (WTF2.0 ~Ed.)

Now if he’d said the Israelis had a policy of assassinating all the Palestinian Mandelas, that might have made some sense (If by "Israelis" this idiot means "Arafat and Fatah", he has a point. ~Ed.).
And finally, for balance:

I used to love that clip where Pee Wee Herman does something dumb, and then he’d say “I meant to do that!”

Again To War

Real Clear Politics' Robert Tracinski writes on The Buildup to a US-Iran War, a coldly realistic assessment of the coming conflict with the Islamofascist enemy:

Ahmadinejad is seeking to initiate a world war in order to achieve global Muslim dominion, so that he can bring about the coming of the messiah. Clearly, he's a man who can be reasoned with, don't you think?

This, and not just the timidity of the Europeans, is the real reason why diplomacy with Iran has collapsed. And it's the reason why we're already enmeshed in a proxy war with Iran as the regime plows its manpower and resources into killing American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bear in mind that Ahmadinejad has been in office for two years now and is a known quantity. If Iran's Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, were unhappy with Ahmadinejad's bluster and aggression, he would already have ousted him. So we can assume Ahmadinejad has the backing of the ruling establishment. And after all, he is merely carrying on--with an increased scope and intensity--the Islamic Republic's decades-long war against the Great Satan.

The coming of the war with Iran has very little to do with our intentions and has everything to do with the enemy's intentions. Our only choice is how we will respond. Will we continue to evade the need to confront this threat--or will we finally begin to fight back?

The answer will begin to form tomorrow when ActMadInJihad sets off for Ground Zero.

Historic times.

Slip me some sugar, baby.

Hamas Attempts Yom Kippur Terror Attack

Ya gotta love them folks at Hamas, always looking for new and creative ways to kill Jews. Turns out they were fixing to murder a whole bunch of them during Yom Kippur. Ain't that just so stylin'?

A Palestinian named Mahadi Ashur was arrested after being fingered by a senior Hamas commander presently co-operating with the IDF. A Hamas weapons factory in Nablus was also discovered.

Boy, Palestinians sure do put a lot of effort into randomly murdering Jews. They should try redirecting that energy into acting like real human beings, maybe learn about civilization and humanity.

The 2.5 Million Dollar Question

In a Yahoo news story about Democrat bagman and convicted fraud Norman Hsu, his own lawyer raises, and in fact probably answers, a fascinating question:
(Hsu's attorney Jim) Brosnahan also said he would seek to undo Hsu's 15-year-old no contest plea in San Mateo County. He said the conviction "suffers from several infirmities," including the fact that state prosecutors appeared to put little effort into looking for Hsu once he skipped town.

"Mr. Hsu was not acting as a fugitive," Brosnahan said. Hsu appeared at prominent fundraisers on both coasts for high-profile candidates such as Clinton.

"Why didn't they go get him?" Brosnahan said outside court. "He was contributing to California politicians."
Let's see now, who might these California politicians be? Might as well start with the most interesting one from a legal standpoint: Jerry Brown, whose task it was as the state's top law enforcement officer to arrest Norman Hsu, who has been on the lam for the past fifteen years. Brown received $5500 from Hsu. Senator Dianne Feinstein received $22,162, Senator Barbara Boxer $5,000, Congresswoman Doris Matsui $16,850, and Assemblywoman Fiona Ma $27,600.

But that's just the California Democrats. The remaining recipients include a Who's Who of the party's leadership, including Barack Ubama, Bill Richardson, John Kerry, Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid and Elliot Spitzer. Oh yes, and Hillary! Rodham Clinton, to the tune of $850,000. And look at that, will ya, even the bright, shiny Stuart Smalley of Let's Rob The Children fame got in on the lolly.

Now it's obvious the Democrats were collectively playing Hide The Salami while Hsu was stuffing their pockets with the proceeds from an ongoing Ponzi scheme. Why would they do that? Was it simply an honest oversight? A lack of due diligence that will Never Happen Again? Not fucking likely, since Hsu's contributions were apparently run in co-ordination with a former member of Bill Clinton's cabinet. There's more to the story, involving other Clinton operatives. From Suitably Flip, who is all over this:

Two points are crucial here.

1) Ever since Hsu became a major fundraiser, there have been notable similarities between his and[Fred] Hochberg/[and his company] Lillian Vernon's contributions that strain the limits of coincidence. Not only is there significant overlap among several far-flung candidates who wouldn't typically be of much interest to New York businessmen, but the size and timing of many of the transactions further suggest the efforts are coordinated.
...

Here, the Hsu-slighted senior Senator from New York [Chuck Schumer] pitches in by serving as the exception that proves the rule. Schumer actually used to enjoy regular financial support from Hochberg. He and his company made several sizable contributions to Schumer's campaigns between 1997 and 2003... then the gravy train came screeching to a halt. Not a single contribution after March 2003. It's anyone's guess why, but if Chuck did something to sour Hochberg, it would explain his conspicuous absence among both Hochberg's and Hsu's bountiful largesse heaped on just about every other notable Democrat in New York State over the following 4 years.

These are all anecdotal observations of course, but I've made the whole data set of Hsu-related transactions available, so you can go exploring for additional interestingly timed contributions.

2) Hochberg's political benefaction predates Hsu's by several years. While Hsu didn't get his start until 2003 and didn't really hit his stride until late 2004, Lillian Vernon and the Hochbergs contributed more than a half million dollars to Democrats in the decade prior to Hsu's political foray (and more than a quarter million more since). This suggests the slate of candidates whose palms Hsu has chosen to cross with silver these last few years was not the product of either Hsu's own ideology or any specific partisan motivation. It seems more likely that the pols Hsu began to grease were simply co-opted from Hochberg's list of favored candidates.
...
But wait... there's more. Some cursory digging on Fred Hochberg reveals something interesting. He's a fellow HillRaiser. Thanks to a bit of alphabetical kismet, you can see his name directly above Hsu's on Hillary's official HillRaiser roster.

But wait... there's still more. Hochberg is also a dean at the New School, where Hsu was a trustee until this scandal broke last month and the school hurriedly removed his name from their website. Also on the New School board is Bernard Schwartz, one of Bill Clinton's biggest financial backers and the central figure in Clinton's scandal involving the sale of missile technology to China.

And the lily gilder: Fred Hochberg was a member of President Clinton's Cabinet.

There's more, more, more at Suitably Flip, who deserves as much traffic as possible:

Oopsie

UPDATED
Sometimes the worst things happen to the best people. Then again, sometimes they happen to Iranians and Syrians working together on chemical weapons of mass destruction:

Proof of cooperation between Iran and Syria in the proliferation and development of weapons of mass destruction was brought to light Monday in a Jane's Defence Weekly report that dozens of Iranian engineers and 15 Syrian officers were killed in a July 23 accident in Syria.

According to the report, cited by Channel 10, the joint Syrian-Iranian team was attempting to mount a chemical warhead on a Scud missile when the explosion occurred, spreading lethal chemical agents, including sarin nerve gas. Reports of the accident were circulated at the time; however, no details were released by the Syrian government, and there were no hints of an Iranian connection.

The report comes on the heels of criticism leveled by the Syrians at the United States, accusing it of spreading "false" claims of Syrian nuclear activity and cooperation with North Korea to excuse an alleged Israeli air incursion over the country this month.

According to globalsecurity.org, Syria is not a signatory of either the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), - an international agreement banning the production, stockpiling or use of chemical weapons - or the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

Syria began developing chemical weapons in 1973, just before the Yom Kipper War. Globalsecurity.org cites the country as having one of the most advanced chemical weapons programs in the Middle East.

There certainly appears to be something going on behind the scenes in Syria, or perhaps to Syria. First Syrian nuclear installations are somehow crippled, and now dozens of very high-level Iranian and Syrian military assets are suddenly an embarrassing heap of biohazardous waste. S'plain that to me, Lucy.

Imagine how bad the Freak Accidents will get if the two ever decide to co-operate with each other militarily?

But let's be clear: I support Iranian engineers and Syrian military officers, so don't question my Iranian and Syrian patriotism!

UPDATE Sept. 19
Via Gateway Pundit, a Freak Accident works for Syria, against Lebanon:

My Brother's Keepers: A Murtha Moment

Jason Mattera of the Young America's Foundation asks Rep. John Murtha if he is willing to apologize to the Haditha Marines for accusing them of murdering Iraqi civilians “in cold blood.” Instead of manning up and answering the guy's question, Mad Jack tries to bully him with the chickenhawk argument whilst redeploying over the horizon into an elevator.

Marines around the world cringe at the very thought of this man's lies. May this video play far and wide until election day 2008.

Gateway Pundit comments here, Bryan of Hot Air comments here.

And Again
This time it's evil rightwing nutjob calendar boy Jeff Gannon asking Rep(rehensible) Murtha about apologizing to those cold-blooded, civilian-killin' Marines- you know: the ones that keep getting the charges against them dropped.

I knew this day was coming - I just didn't think it would be this delicious.

Holy Land Trial Exposes The Muslim Brotherhood's Campaign Against The West

An adult conversation at The American Thinker about the threat to Western democracy exposed by the Holy Land Foundation trial:
From an intelligence perspective, the first thing in assessing and evaluating these raw, translated documents is that they all passed sufficient legal scrutiny to be entered into evidence in a federal trial. Secondly, since these are raw, primary sourced documents of the Muslim Brotherhood and not secondarily sourced, they are the equivalent in a tactical or operational sense of key leadership defector, or detainee debriefing statements, or the capturing of the enemy's strategic campaign plan. Indeed the title of one document is "An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America." Third, the defendants did not challenge in court the authenticity or veracity of the evidentiary documents. All of which immediately speaks to both the credibility and reliability of these reports for intelligence analysis and exploitation.

It's Not Called Islamofascism For Nothing
A solid grounding in history is anathema to idiots; I expect few takers, but here we go anyway:
There are a few takeaway points from all this. First, the jihad didn’t start in 2001 or 1993 or 1983 or even 1979. It goes back quite a bit farther, and isn’t a response to US policies. Second, the jihadis work with secular allies when it suits them. The grand mufti worked hand in glove with Hitler; they would work with anyone else who could provide whatever they believe they need to achieve their goals. Third, the Muslim Brotherhood isn’t dormant or dead — it boasts about 20% of Egypt’s Parliament, for one thing — and it and its various offshoots are still working toward the goal of global Muslim domination.

Leftist Idiot To Liz Edwards: You're Either With Us Or Against Us

Idiot blowhard Jane Hamsher attacks Elizabeth Edwards for her criticism of the idiotic Moveon ad slandering General Patreus. The insufferable Mizz Hamsher admonishes Mrs. Edwards thusly:

[MoveOn is] out there on the left so you can look “moderate.” They’re saying what needs to be said, opening the conversation up so John Edwards isn’t considered the left-wing fringe loon that nobody should listen to.
In other words,

"We at Moveondotorg are going to leverage our overt left-wing fringe lunacy to distract the voter from your covert left-wing fringe lunacy, so shut up about the ads we buy in the New York Times, already!"

"And don't question our patriotism!"

Israelis Conduct Above-Ground Nuculur Test

The Times Online is reporting that Israel bombed Syria's nuclear installations last week after the Optometrist Of Damascus bought some or all of DPRK's now-surplus materiele. If true, the story speaks volumes about Assad's misunderestimation of the sons of dogs and pigs- especially them flyin' ones:

IT was just after midnight when the 69th Squadron of Israeli F15Is crossed the Syrian coast-line. On the ground, Syria’s formidable air defences went dead. An audacious raid on a Syrian target 50 miles from the Iraqi border was under way.

At a rendezvous point on the ground, a Shaldag air force commando team was waiting to direct their laser beams at the target for the approaching jets. The team had arrived a day earlier, taking up position near a large underground depot. Soon the bunkers were in flames.

Ten days after the jets reached home, their mission was the focus of intense speculation this weekend amid claims that Israel believed it had destroyed a cache of nuclear materials from North Korea.

The Israeli government was not saying. “The security sources and IDF [Israeli Defence Forces] soldiers are demonstrating unusual courage,” said Ehud Olmert, the prime minister. “We naturally cannot always show the public our cards.”

Assad is demurring as well, which probably means he just had his ass handed to him by the Good Guys.

Idiots will cry.

How To Win Friends And Influence People

No, the Islamofascists in Iraq haven't heard of that particular American bestseller by Dale Carnegie; they just know that they must kill in the name of "Allah." And that very reactionary attitude is coming between them and their peeps, as Carnegie might have predicted given the evidence.

Not gonna work.

On General Patreus And Honor

Wherein the General wins hands down his confrontation with hostile Democrats, because he has both personal honor and reality on his side. And the reality is, al Qaeda is losing. To the tune of 1,500 new dead assholes a month. Turns out they're crazy murderous psychopaths who have difficulty socializing, so the locals tell the Americans where to find them and kill them.

Go figure.

Having poisoned one country and been expelled from it (Afghanistan), al Qaeda seized upon post-Saddam instability to establish itself in the very heart of the Arab Middle East — Sunni Iraq. Yet now, in front of all the world, Iraq’s Sunnis are, to use the biblical phrase, vomiting out al Qaeda. This is a defeat and humiliation in the extreme — an Arab Muslim population rejecting al Qaeda so violently that it allies itself in battle with the infidel, the foreigner, the occupier.
Man, that is delicious.

So is Rich Lowry's analysis of the Democrats' disastrous Patreus-hearings tactics:

Democrats were wrong-footed. Their all-or-nothing opposition to the war made it impossible for them to digest any good news, so they resorted to ham-handed attacks on the general’s credibility. Even the usually shrewd Rep. Rahm Emanuel — architect of the Democratic takeover of the House — blustered, “We don’t need a report that wins the Nobel Prize for creative statistics or the Pulitzer for fiction.”
Oh, yeah: Hillary surrendered the White House when she accused General David Patreus of lying to the congressional committee hearing his testimony. All the Democratic leadership, who ever warn us against questioning their patriotism, were impugning General Patreus' character and veracity in advance of his testimony. Plus they weaseled on the NYT MooooVon ad insulting the troops and their commander.

So pre-emptive attack is cool again?

Alright.

When Do Wars End?

I've enjoyed Gabriel Malor's brilliant postings and I'm sure he'll be accused any day now of hating Arabs. "When Do Wars End?" is the latest in his series of discussions on the vagueries of war and law.

It will be a surprise to idiots, for example, that the Korean War is still on, which is why Bush is waving it in Kim's face.

Read more of Gabriel Malor at AceHQ and Malor's own fine blog.

If You Don't Agree With Me That Republicans Are Mindless Warmogers I'll Attack You In A Monkey Rage

Yet Another Violent Antiwar Idiot: First Place, Dog Bites Man Category.

I've never listened to Air America longer than it took me to appreciate anew the freedom of not having to suffer idiocy; let's say ten seconds. But apparently Ed Schultz is a big guy there and the listeners love him- all five of them, in fact. And knowing how idiots think, I know they'll appreciate that Ed Schultz assaults people for their political beliefs.

Per The Captain:
It's always amusing to see the violence inherent in the anti-war Left -- or at least it's amusing from a distance. When was the last time a conservative radio host got into a barfight? Do you suppose Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, or Michael Medved would take a swing at someone in a bar over a political disagreement? If they did, it would make national headlines. I wonder if we'll see the same kind of coverage about Air America's star.

If you want to send your thoughts to Schultz's home station and its owner Jim Ingstad, you can e-mail him here.

Fred Thompson On Why He Wants It

It's all here.

Fred is saying that America needs to return to its founding principles described in the Constitution. I couldn't agree more; the U.S. Constitution comprises the greatest set of governing principals ever conceived by man.

"We're Kickin' Ass"

George W. Bush opines to Australia's DPM that "we're kickin' ass" in Iraq. Well then, I guess we are. That's good by me, that's what I want: to kick ass in Iraq. But a Kos story based on a Raw Story story that echoes everything on the idiot left declares that it's not good to talk like that. As usual with idiots, there is a Larger Problem, a layered and nuanced mystery, and therefore you won't understand it, so you should leave it up to Them:
But there is a larger problem here -- the fact that George Bush has totally lost touch with reality over Iraq. Even when he goes and visits directly, he sees only what he wants to see and not what actually is.
Except I'll bet the idiot who wrote that hallowed passage hasn't come within five thousand fucking miles of Iraq on his damned-by-faint-praise Best Day, so he wouldn't have a clue what actually is, because he hasn't been there, which he clearly indicates is kinda sorta necessary to claim, y'know, credibility.

In other words, like all idiots, he's projecting: he sees only what he wants to see. Never mind your lyin' eyes.

The idiots are foaming at their mouths over Dubya's latest words and, as part of my personal campaign against idiot profiling, I ain't going to link to a single one of them.

The Big Picture

Karl at Protein Wisdom chronicles the anti-Bush media's sacrifice of journalism on the altar of leftist advocacy. Could become a blogging landmark. It's well-researched and fully documented, unlike the reliably ludicrous Beauchamp Flung Poo of the left.

Bush's Karma Runs Over Idiot's Dogma

SWEEEET.

I say of Daily Mail Resident Idiot Piers Morgan, "You'd have to be an idiot to fall off, wouldn't you Mr. Piers. If anyone can make a pig's ear of riding a sophisticated, self-balancing machine like this, Morgan can."

That's about right.

Lost: Liberalism To Leftism

Via Ace,

Disillusioned Liberal Andrew Anthony has written a book with the interesting conclusion that misplaced guilt is the fuel that keeps Liberalism sputtering along the road of hypocrisy.

“Liberal leftism, by contrast, is a state of mind, a social marker, a moral attitude. It is thus more difficult to hold up to the light, to examine what should be retained, what jettisoned.”

“It has no party, no country, nothing that can tie it down and nothing for which it can be blamed.”

For the Left, the blindfold of guilt has created a one size fits all template of political, social, and economic discourse. No matter what the discussion, the correct answer has already been written.

“Guilt, he says, has eviscerated their liberalism - and turned it into a permanent form of appeasement of ideologies, personalities and actions which are, by true liberals' own lights, insupportable.”

“…too many liberals appear too cowed or constrained by the diktats of post-colonial discourse [translation: guilt] to assert the importance of reason and robust intellectual debate.'”

(Man, will I second that.- Ed.)

Once again Liberalism has been shown to be nothing more than an amusement park roller coaster ride. At first blush it would seem that both activities require a great deal of courage to pursue. But roller coasters and Liberalism are not truly dangerous and only give the illusion of such. The courage needed for both are tempered by the fact that both are firmly bolted to a comforting set course that never varies. A pattern that always begins and ends at the same place.

No Shit, Sherlock Line Of The Month: "America has become the 'prejudice of choice for those who pride themselves on their lack of prejudice'."

Anbar

Robert Kagan on Bush's Anbar conference and the progress, facts and lessons of the Anbar Awakening.

Some things fail to occur to those accusing Bush of causing civil war in Iraq. First, the U.S.A. has itself been through the fires of a horrible civil war and knows what ensues from that; second, the very notion is assinine and juvenile.

Idiots bray that Americans have forgotten the lessons of that time in history. They have not.

An entire Iraqi province the world had declared lost has been transformed by Iraqis and Americans working together in their purest common interest: freedom.

Imagine that.

Al Gore Times Ten

The 'well-funded climate denial industry' remains Algore's favorite boogeyman:

"There has been an organized campaign," Gore told a forum in Singapore, "financed to the tune of about $10 million a year from some of the largest carbon polluters, to create the impression that there is disagreement in the scientific community."
If by "create the impression" Algore means "point out," then yes, I agree there has been an organized campaign, premised by the way on the Constitutional guarantee of Freedom of Speech. That's okay with you, Al, isn't it?

*Yawn*

Noted by legions, I'm sure. Then an article in Ad Age tells us what Algore leaves out: that he too is mounting an "organized campaign" (apparently a Bad Thing when someone besides Algore does it): NRO explains so even idiots can understand:
"But now one of the most hotly contended pitches out there is for the Alliance for Climate Protection, the organization formed last year by Al Gore. Four elite agencies — Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, the Martin Agency and Y&R — are squaring off for the business and are expected to present to the former vice president himself early next month, according to executives familiar with the review. The budget for the "historic, three-to-five-year, multimedia global campaign," as the request for proposals puts it, is contingent on how much money the alliance raises. Media spending will likely be more than $100 million a year."

That's right, $100 million per year. Al Gore, who seems to think it is sinister for other people to spend money in order to communicate their ideas about sound public policy is going to outspend the entire mass of climate policy critics tenfold in order to spread his message of environmental catastrophism to the public.

Will Newsweek damn Gore's eco-industry funded hysteria campaign to lead a charge back to the stone age? Don't hold your breath.
