Insanity

The Gitmo decision is the most insane judgement ever by the United States Supreme Court, bar none, but that's what happens with leftwing judges. It is the realization of every anti-American idiot on the planet, and will prove more destructive than anyone now imagines. Mark Levin:

It has been the objective of the left-wing bar to fight aspects of this war in our courtrooms, where it knew it would have a decent chance at victory. So complete is the Court's disregard for the Constitution and even its own precedent now that anything is possible. And what was once considered inconceivable is now compelled by the Constitution, or so five justices have ruled. I fear for my country. I really do. And AP, among others, reports this story as a defeat for "the Bush administration." Really? I see it as a defeat for the nation.
With any luck, the first unintended consequence will be that, instead of wasting space and taxpayers' money in hotel prisons like Gitmo, captured illegal enemy combatants will simply be executed in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.

WaPo: "Bush Lied" Story Phony

Bad News For Idiots Dept.
Via The Anchoress
As I've said here before, the left has never been honest about the intelligence that a) prompted President Clinton's decision to make removing Saddam from office an official policy of the United States government and b) prompted the decision by President Bush to act on that policy after 9/11 through Operation Iraqi Freedom. To believe the left's lies was to believe Iraqi WMDs never existed, that there were no connections between Saddam and al Qaeda, that Saddam was not on the brink of developing nuclear weapons, and that Saddam was contained as a threat to the United States.

From the moment the Democrats decided to lie to the American public for political gain (about Bush, of course- it was less than a year before the 2004 election!), fabulists and rank opportunists like the treasonous Wilson and Plame laid siege to the truth from every angle, all of their lies supported and inflamed by the Democrats and the MSM.

So it's not surprising that I learn from today's Post that proven liar Jay Rockefeller, Democrat chairman of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee (which would more accurately be called the Senate Selective Intelligence Committee) tells us that "In making the case for war, the administration repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when it was unsubstantiated, contradicted or even nonexistent," when in fact the report says exactly the opposite:

But dive into Rockefeller’s [Intelligence Committee] report, in search of where exactly President Bush lied about what his intelligence agencies were telling him about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein, and you may be surprised by what you find.

On Iraq’s nuclear weapons program? The president’s statements “were generally substantiated by intelligence community estimates.”

On biological weapons, production capability and those infamous mobile laboratories? The president’s statements “were substantiated by intelligence information.”

On chemical weapons, then?Substantiated by intelligence information.”

On weapons of mass destruction overall (a separate section of the intelligence committee report)? “Generally substantiated by intelligence information.”

Delivery vehicles such as ballistic missiles? “Generally substantiated by available intelligence.”

Unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to deliver WMDs? “Generally substantiated by intelligence information.”

As you read through the report, you begin to think maybe you’ve mistakenly picked up the minority dissent. But, no, this is the Rockefeller indictment. So, you think, the smoking gun must appear in the section on Bush’s claims about Saddam Hussein’s alleged ties to terrorism.

But statements regarding Iraq’s support for terrorist groups other than al-Qaeda “were substantiated by intelligence information.” Statements that Iraq provided safe haven for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and other terrorists with ties to al-Qaeda “were substantiated by the intelligence assessments,” and statements regarding Iraq’s contacts with al-Qaeda “were substantiated by intelligence information.” The report is left to complain about “implications” and statements that “left the impression” that those contacts led to substantive Iraqi cooperation.[,,,]

After all, it was not Bush, but Rockefeller, who said in October 2002: “There has been some debate over how ‘imminent’ a threat Iraq poses. I do believe Iraq poses an imminent threat. I also believe after September 11, that question is increasingly outdated. . . . To insist on further evidence could put some of our fellow Americans at risk. Can we afford to take that chance? I do not think we can.” [Emphasis mine]

As much as that Rockefeller quote supposedly reflected the Democrats' official position on Saddam at the time, all they had ever done about Saddam, indeed terrorism in general, for that matter, was huff and puff, even after the disasters which took place on Clinton's watch. But having seen the same intelligence the Clinton White House, the UN and "allied" governments had seen over the years, after 9/11 Bush decided it was time to act on it, and Rockefeller, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, John Kerry, who fought in Vietnam, John Edwards, Henry Waxman, Bob Graham, Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, Sandy Burglar, Madeline Albright, Nancy Pelosi and others all agreed. At least until they decided that by lying about it, they could possibly win in 2004. They didn't, of course, but they finally prevailed by the same tactic in 2006.

But while others are making hay out of the fact that the WaPo has called Rockefeller and the Dems out on their lies, I'll point out that they did so only grudgingly and remain insistent that the Rescue of Iraq was a catastrophe.

True, the Rescue of Iraq has been an historically horrific endeavor by the standard of today's radical leftist idiots, who require zero casualties, zero deaths and defeat for America in order for it to be termed anything other than a gigantic failure, and who attempt to demonize anyone who disagrees as hypocritical warmongers because they haven't suited up for duty there (this includes the Bush twins, just so you get the level of idiocy we're talking about here) .

In fact, the Rescue of Iraq is a noble undertaking that has freed tens of millions of souls from Saddam's murderous brutality and is showing the "Arab street" that al Qaeda is not just a weak horse, but a dead one.

The question left unanswered by all this is, why is the narrative changing now? The Anchoress offers her thoughts, but I will reserve my judgement for another time.

Another Flawless Performance By Unproven Missile Defense System

At Perfunction via Ace:

Another successful missile test means another flame-out for the Obamian One.

D-Day

On this date in 1944, Allied troops invaded Fortress Europe to defeat Hitler and totalitarianism. They won The Second World War.

Sixty-four years later, Hitler is gone, but the fight against oppression carries on right here at home.

Obama Betrays Jerusalem To Palestinians

Just hours after telling the American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference audience that “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided,” Obama caved to criticism from Palestinians and threw Israel under the Bus Of Hope And Change, declaring "Jerusalem is a final status issue, which means it has to be negotiated between the two parties".

Red State:
So let's make this very clear. Under pressure from Palestinians and terrorists, Obama caves on perhaps Israel's most fundamental issue. Not a good sign for those meetings with Ahmadinejad.
More from Ace.

The Environmental-Industrial Complex

Iain Murray on Warner-Lieberman:

The Global Warming Bill in a Nutshell
Having learned from the Farm Bill that people will pass anything if you buy enough of them off, Sen. Boxer has proposed a substitute amendment to the Lieberman-Warner global warming bill currently before the Senate, which will redistribute trillions (yes, trillions) of dollars to the environmental-industrial complex.

Senator McConnell just objected to the Boxer substitute amendment being taken as read. The Clerk is now reading aloud the 491 page substitute, which was described as making small textual corrections to the 157 page bill.

Breaking: Obama's Longtime Pal Rezko Found Guilty Of Multiple Corruption Charges And, Like Wright and Pfleger, Not Being The Man That Obama Knew

Tony Rezko was convicted today on sixteen charges of corruption in Chicago politics. Right on cue, we have the Obamian One expressing his disappointment in Rezko, declaring that Rezko is the latest in a growing line of Obama's close associates that are suddenly not the people he knew.

Jeremiah Wright, Pfather Pflager and now Tony Rezko- never mind Obama's Islamist friend Rashid Khalidi, Louis Farrakhan, Claudette Marie Muhammad and unrepentant terrorists Ayers and Dohrn. As Power Line asks in the course of an "Earth to Obama" post, how long before He Who Does Not Know His Friends announces that his wife is "not the Michelle Obama I knew"?

This just gets better and better.

Rezkorama has lots more.

A Devastating Bombshell Will Be Dropped Tomorrow

On professional asshat Larry Johnson, when the so-called "whitey" tape proves to be his latest fabrication. Hey, Larry: you're as reliable an asshat as they come. Kudos on your legendary consistency, baby.

Here are some choice lines from the new Sweetness & Light post, Why Does Anyone Believe Larry C. Johnson?:

This is the same Larry Johnson who claims “big tobacco” is a bigger threat to our country’s security than is terrorism.

This is the same Larry Johnson who works with Ray McGovern and other turncoats to try to get intelligence officers to betray their country.

This is the same Larry Johnson who has threatened people online for posting about his brilliant career.

This is the same Larry Johnson who vouched for Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson, along every step of their shameful race to the gutter. (Indeed, no lie was too preposterous.)

This is the same Larry Johnson who vouched for the story that Karl Rove had been indicted.

Kurtz On Obama: Inside Obama's ACORN

Stanley Kurtz' NRO article, "Inside Obama's ACORN", shows how Obama hitched his political fortunes early on to the low-profile but heavily radical ACORN, an organization whose tactic of propagating itself through the takeover of community organizations fits perfectly with Obama's strategy of gaining power through those same groups.
At least a few news reports have briefly mentioned Obama’s role in training Acorn’s leaders, but none that I know of have said what Foulkes reports next: that Obama’s long service with Acorn led many members to serve as the volunteer shock troops of Obama’s early political campaigns — his initial 1996 State Senate campaign, and his failed bid for Congress in 2000 (Foulkes confuses the dates of these two campaigns.) With Obama having personally helped train a new cadre of Chicago Acorn leaders, by the time of Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate campaign, Obama and Acorn were “old friends,” says Foulkes.

So along with the reservoir of political support that came to Obama through his close ties with Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, and other Chicago black churches, Chicago Acorn appears to have played a major role in Obama’s political advance. Sure enough, a bit of digging into Obama’s years in the Illinois State Senate indicates strong concern with Acorn’s signature issues, as well as meetings with Acorn and the introduction by Obama of Acorn-friendly legislation on the living wage and banking practices. You begin to wonder whether, in his Springfield days, Obama might have best been characterized as “the Senator from Acorn.”

Read it all.

Kurtz On Obama: No Liberation

Writing for NRO, Stanley Kurtz continues his illuminating investigation into Barack Hussein Obama's radical politics in "No Liberation", in which Obama's rejection of "assimilation" and his plan to harness “the politics of black rage and black nationalism” place him solidly at the outer edge of leftist radicalism and poised even to part ways with the Democrats if necessary, as he did in Chicago:

So Obama’s political interest in Trinity went far beyond merely gaining a respectable public Christian identity. On his own account, Obama hoped to use the untapped power of the black church to supercharge hard-left politics in Chicago, creating a personal and institutional political base that would be free to part with conventional Democratic politics. By his own testimony, Obama would seem to have allied himself with Wright and Pfleger, not in spite of, but precisely because of their radical left-wing politics. It follows that Obama’s ties to Trinity reflect on far more than his judgment and character (although they certainly implicate that). Contrary to common wisdom, then, Obama’s religious history has everything to do with his political values and policy positions, since it confirms his affinity for leftist radicalism.

Unholy Trinity

Barack Hussein Obama has tossed his close friend, confidant and mentor reverend Wright, then the crazed Father Pfleger and now the entire Trinity United Church of Christ under The Bus Of Hope And Change. That's an awful lot of Obama's formative past that has proven too radioactive to sustain a campaign with their presence, so it's time to scrutinize the relationships between these players.

No-one is doing a better job of exposing Obama's past than Stanley Kurtz, whose NRO article "Left In Church" chronicles the ties that bind Obama to Wright, Pfleger and TUCC:
As Trumpet notes, Pfleger does in fact work closely with Farrakhan, Wright, and Obama. Pfleger and Wright are key partners in the Chicago crusade against Wal-Mart. Wright’s first public appearance after the “God damn America” scandal was in Pfleger’s church. Pfleger has repeatedly rejected criticism and hosted Louis Farrakhan at St. Sabina. Recently, Pfleger sharply defended the deeply controversial appointment of Farrakhan follower Sister Claudette Marie Muhammad to the Illinois Governor’s Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes. (Muhammad’s appointment led to a series of resignations from the commission.)

During the same period, Trumpet ran a highly positive feature article on Sister Muhammad and Louis Farrakhan. In fact, over and above the famous Empowerment Award” Wright bestowed on Farrakhan, Trumpet regularly features positive mentions of Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam. There is a kind of informal nexus between Wright, Farrakhan, and Pfleger, each of whom are bound by an allegiance to black-liberation theology, or to the black Muslim nationalism that inspired James Cone to create black-liberation theology to begin with.

Obama was a part of this nexus. Despite current attempts to rewrite history, Obama was close to Wright for years, and fully entangled with him, both theologically and politically. Pfleger’s influence over Obama, whose work as a “community organizer” had him in frequent contact with South Chicago’s churches, is second only to that of Wright. Obama has worked on a great many political causes with Pfleger, and Pfleger was a key early backer of Obama’s failed 2000 bid for a seat in Congress.
