Gaza Flotilla Attack Linked To Anti-Israel Organization Backed By Obama Friends Ayers And Dorhn, Obama Code Pink Fundraiser Evans

Via Gateway Pundit Jim Hoft

The Real Barack Obama reports:
Aaron Klein, Jerusalem bureau chief for World Net Daily, reports from New York:
The group behind the Gaza flotilla that engaged in deadly clashes with Israeli commandoes today counts among its top activists Weather Underground terrorist founders William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn as well as Jodie Evans, the leader of the radical activist organization Code Pink.

Ayers and Dohrn were close associates for years with President Obama, while Evans was a fundraiser and financial bundler for Obama’s presidential campaign.

Earlier today, Israeli navy commandos raided the six-ship flotilla, encountering heavy resistance and live fire from the activists. Nine activists were killed and dozens of others were reportedly injured, as were several of the Israeli commandoes.

The flotilla was organized by the Free Gaza Movement, a coalition of leftist human rights activists and pro-Palestinian groups engaged in attempts to break a blockade imposed by Israel on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

Ayers, Dohrn and Evans’ Code Pink have led several recent Free Gaza Movement initiatives, including attempted marches into the Gaza Strip. Dorhn was in the Middle East just last month on behalf of the movement.

Video: Islamist Terrorists Attack IDF Forces Enforcing Blockade

Via Gabriel Malor at AoSHQ:

Word filtered out last night that there had been casualties, including some deaths, on the pointless, Turkey-backed flotilla attempting to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. The "peace activists" had been warned that they must divert to Ashdod where the supplies they intended to deliver would be searched for weapons and then trucked to Gaza.

They refused, choosing to make a political statement (Ed.: some political statement!)rather than deliver much-needed food and medical supplies to Gaza. They got their wish. The IDF released this video (embedded below) of the so-called peace activists attacking IDF soldiers as they board one of the ships. They attacked with guns, knives, and improvised weapons.

According to initial reports, these events resulted in the deaths of nine demonstrators and seven naval personnel were injured, some from gunfire and some from various other weapons. Two of the soldiers are moderately wounded and the remainder sustained light injuries. All of the injured, Israelis and foreigners have been evacuated by helicopter to hospitals in Israel. Reports from IDF forces on the scene are that it seems as if part of the participants onboard the ships were planning to lynch the forces.
The flotilla is now under IDF control and headed for Ashdod. The peace activists got their PR message, at the pointless cost of nine lives. The Gazans will eventually get their supplies anyay. The Israeli blockade will continue. And the Israelis will get another scolding from the "international community."
Un-uniformed terrorists armed with guns, knives, flash grenades, firebombs and other improvised weapons, and planning to lynch Israeli soldiers: "peace activists".

I gotta remember that one.

Allahpundit, with more info and more video:

Apparently Israel was either supposed to let the ships run the blockade, not knowing for sure who or what was on board, or instruct their troops to let the passengers crack their skulls open with lead pipes once they were on the deck in the interests of “dialogue” or something.

The UN Security Council is holding an emergency meeting as I write this, which is interesting since, to my knowledge, it has yet to meet to condemn the North Korean attack on that South Korean ship that’s had the far east inching towards a war footing for months.

Here's an excerpt from YNET News:

Navy commandoes slid down to the vessel one by one, yet then the unexpected occurred: The passengers that awaited them on the deck pulled out bats, clubs, and slingshots with glass marbles, assaulting each soldier as he disembarked. The fighters were nabbed one by one and were beaten up badly, yet they attempted to fight back.

However, to their misfortune, they were only equipped with paintball rifles used to disperse minor protests, such as the ones held in Bilin. The paintballs obviously made no impression on the activists, who kept on beating the troops up and even attempted to wrest away their weapons. One soldier who came to the aid of a comrade was captured by the rioters and sustained severe blows.

The commandoes were equipped with handguns but were told they should only use them in the face of life-threatening situations. When they came down from the chopper, they kept on shouting to each other "don't shoot, don't shoot," even though they sustained numerous blows.

Since rather than earning them Obama's proposed new Medal For Courageous Restraint Israel is going to be condemned world wide as if they had violently attacked a ship full of innocents rather than fighting off an ambush by a mob of illegal enemy combatants, perhaps next time they should be more judicious and just sink the bastards with proportional love. This was, after all, an act of war against Israel by Palestinian terrorists and their supporters, possibly sanctioned by Turkey and aided by Iran and perhaps others.

It's time Israel put down the paintball guns and got serious about ridding the world of these barbarians.

Power Line: At Least Ten Killed as "Peace Activists" Attack Soldiers:
The incident is being portrayed in the Arab press as an unprovoked attack by the soldiers. As usual, the flaw in this theory is that if the soldiers had set out to massacre the activists, they would have done a better job of it. Violence occurred on only one of the six ships, because only on that ship was it instigated by the pro-Palestinian activists. But that won't stop the incident from triggering another round of world-wide Israel-bashing.

Via Patterico, the Next Right finds that, when it comes to BP and Democrats, it's all in the family:

“One of the top media consultants for British Petroleum gave free rent to a politician who became White House Chief of Staff.

And, no, this was not Karl Rove giving a freebie to Andy Card.

No, the recipient of the favor was Rahm Emanuel and the benefactor was Stanley Greenberg.

Stanley Greenberg is an interesting guy. He is married to CT Democratic Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a close ally of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Greenberg is the principal of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, a large polling and public relations firm. They do both political campaign work and “corporate communications” work.

The DCCC has paid Greenberg’s firm in excess of $500,000 during the 2006 and 2008 election cycles. They are also Dick Blumenthal’s pollster.

But let’s look at the corporate side, where Mr. Greenberg promises to “help corporations increase competitiveness and profitability, improve reputation, and take advantage of global trends.”

Who are they helping?

British Petroleum.

Just To Clarify

Jim Geraghty at NRO:
So, just to clarify, the federal government is in complete control of the situation in the Gulf of Mexico, but the president of the United States does not know whether the head of the Minerals Management Service quit or was fired.

Dereliction Of Duty

Obama's dereliction on the Gulf oil mess:
What has been desperately needed from the beginning of this tragedy is leadership. What we've gotten instead from the White House has been blame shifting, bureaucratic gamesmanship, and political opportunism.

All three elements reached an apotheosis Wednesday when New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote that a senior Obama official had lamented that the administration, in Dowd's words, "should have acted more urgently to re-examine the dark legacy of Cheney in the Energy and Interior Departments." That's just great -- hundreds of thousands of gallons of raw crude oil have been erupting into the Gulf for more than a month and the president's men are trying to steer the blame to Dick Cheney? That Obama's most trusted advisers are indulging in such partisan lunacy in the second month of this crisis is a staggering commentary on how inadequate these people are to the demands of the moment.

Disastrously Incompetent

Jules Crittendon commenting on Peggy Noonan's devastating Wall Street Journal column, He Was Supposed To Be Competent.
The big surprise with the current president is not so much that he is incompetent, inexperienced and divisive, but the extent to which he is all of those things, and the extent to which anyone is surprised. It’s not like there weren’t enough warning signs on the way in, all of which were summarily dismissed.
Of course, to Obama, this is a crisis made in heaven. With this one fortuitous event, he has been handed both an excuse to halt all offshore drilling and a pretense for pressing forward with his disastrous cap & tax legislation that will kill whatever is left of the economy and lay waste to the country's energy supplies.

No president in my lifetime, perhaps in the history of the United States, has been as subversive, dishonest and wholly unfit for the office as Barack Hussein Obama. If Americans think the Gulf oil spill is a catastrophe, just wait until a successful Islamofascist terror attack wreaks untold havoc on an already reeling nation. I can't imagine the outcome and don't even want to try, but one thing is for sure: for the Republic to survive, this president must be replaced by someone actually suited to the demands of the office, and it can't happen a moment too soon.

Well Hello, young Obamabots, wherever you are, I hope your troubles are few. Oh, and get out while you have the chance - it's going to get ugly.

The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America

Building on the last post, I give you Andrew C. McCarthy's new book, The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America.

Haven't read it yet, but I have my copy on order and yes, I will vouch for its accuracy and importance in advance because I have more respect for McCarthy than anyone else writing on the subject of Islamic jihad against America and how the left is aiding and abetting that war.

Why would they do that, you ask? Because both want the same thing: the destruction of the American idea.

Obama Always Sides With America's Enemies

And as Andrew C. McCarthy observes, Americans don't like that. Not one bit.

I was talking to a friend the other day, trying to explain my melancholy over the country. Conversations like that tend to get a bit self-absorbed, but indulge me for a second. I said I couldn’t think of a better example than myself for relating the problem no one wants to face up to. A number of years ago, at some risk to myself and my family, I prosecuted savage jihadists who had made themselves enemies of the United States. I was lauded for doing so by the Clinton administration. Though I disagreed with that administration philosophically, and particularly with its conception of international terrorism as a crime problem, I praised the much-needed overhaul by which it put teeth in our counterterrorism laws. Our disagreement was over the best way to protect the country, not over the imperative that the country be protected. Our debate was the traditional Right-Left debate.

Moreover, as a New York lawyer who made no secret of having conservative views, I was a decided minority, even among my fellow prosecutors. But that only mattered in the occasional, friendly joust over a beer. Day to day, our politics had nothing to do with how we went about our jobs. At the office, I had friends across the ideological spectrum. Most of them were from the political left, but we liked and respected one another. The bond we shared, the sense that we were doing something good for the nation we all loved, was stronger than any ideological divisions.

Why does that matter now? Because, for the first time in our history, we have a president who would be much more comfortable sitting in a room with Bill Ayers than sitting in a room with me. We have a governing class that is too often comfortable with anti-American radicals, with rogue and dysfunctional governments that blame America for their problems, and with Muslim Brotherhood ideologues who abhor individual liberty, capitalism, freedom of conscience, and, in general, Western enlightenment. To this president and his government, I am the problem.

Americans who champion life, liberty, and limited government are not just the loyal opposition; they are deemed potential terrorists, and are derided with considerably more intensity than the actual terrorists. Arizona — for criminalizing criminal activity, for defending its sovereignty and protecting its citizens’ lives and property — is slandered as a human-rights violator.

Why Joe Sestak Is Such A Problem For Obama And The Clintons

American Thinker has two important articles today about Pennsylvania Democrat Senate candidate Joe Sestak and his role as a Sandy Berger-managed point man for the Clintons. In The Senator from Sandy Berger, Jack Cashill explains how "Sestak owes his political career to Berger":

Berger began his rehabilitation in March 2006 with a fundraiser for Joesph Sestak, a former vice admiral forced into retirement for what the U.S. Navy charitably called "poor command climate." Before being recruited to run for Congress by the Clinton shadow government, Sestak had expressed no political ambitions and had not lived in his Pennsylvania district for 30 years.

Although hosted by Berger, the fundraiser was held at the law offices of Harold Ickes, a veteran Clinton fixer, and Janice Enright, the treasurer of Hillary Clinton's 2006 Senate campaign. Kicking in to support Sestak was a who's who of Clinton national security exiles. These included former secretary of state Madeleine Albright, Richard "Against All Enemies" Clarke, former national security adviser Anthony Lake, former White House chief of staff, John Podesta, and Hillary Clinton herself.

Berger was not the only Sestak supporter to have a cloud hanging over his head. Donor John Deutch, formerly Director of Central Intelligence, had signed a criminal plea agreement in connection with his mishandling of national secrets a day before being pardoned by the outgoing President Clinton.

Another interesting contribution came in from Mary O. McCarthy, recently dismissed by the CIA reportedly for failing a polygraph on leaked classified information in regard to CIA prisons overseas. As it happened, a timely leak shortly before the 2006 election would ultimately do in Sestak's Republican opponent.

Before the campaign was through, Clinton insiders would enlist Stonebridge's Director of Communications to serve as Sestak's campaign spokesperson, summon former president Clinton to rally the troops, and finally call in the federales. Their reasons for supporting Sestak were transparent even to the local media. "A Sestak victory," observed suburban Philadelphia's Delco Times early in the campaign, "would muzzle a Republican congressman who blames Clinton for doing irreparable harm to America's national security during the 1990s."

That Congresman was 10-term Republican Curt Weldon. Weldon had committed one unforgivable crime: investigating the intelligence failures of the Clinton era. Payback began in 2004 after The Los Angeles Times ran a series on members of Congress whose family members lobby or work as consultants. The Weldon family member in the spotlight was his daughter, Karen Weldon. In 2002, the then 28 year-old had co-founded Solutions North America, a business consultancy.

That much said, as the Times also acknowledged, "Congressional ethics rules provide few barriers to the practice. They do not forbid members of Congress from helping companies or others who are paying their relatives." The House Ethics Committee, in fact, cleared Weldon of any wrongdoing.

That was not clearance enough for the mischief-makers from the George Soros-funded watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). Melanie Sloan, a former assistant United States attorney and now the executive director of CREW, petitioned the Justice Department to investigate Weldon and determine whether the congressman had violated a federal bribery law. This petition, once executed and amplified, would spell the end of Weldon's career.

Also at American Thinker, Ben Barrack asks Will Toomey Play Hardball with Sestak?, hoping the answer from Pat Toomey will be "yes". Why? Because, in Barrack's words, should Toomey play his cards right, he could bring down "what a growing percentage of Americans now view as the most corrupt presidential administration in this nation's history."

When Joe Sestak defeated Arlen Specter to secure the Democratic nomination for Senator of Pennsylvania, you could almost feel the White House cringe. Although it's too early to say that Sestak's loose lips in a February media interview with Larry Kane could sink the Obama administration's ship, his primary win almost certainly has the White House scrambling for sandbags to reinforce the stonewall.

Sestak clammed up in that interview after admitting that someone in the administration offered him a job in July to drop out of the primary -- presumably, that job was Secretary of the Navy. The problem is that the claim implicates the administration in the commission of at least one felony and Sestak could be implicating himself in the misprision of a felony as long as he remains silent about what job was offered and who offered it.

Republican candidate Pat Toomey is now running against Sestak and told KDKA radio's Mike Pintek on May 19th that he will run his campaign like he's twenty points down in what is, on paper a close race. If he means that, perhaps he should shine the spotlight on this scandal now that he is on a national stage.

On its face, a strategy that involves calling national media attention to the scandal known as 'Jobsgate' might seem like Toomey would be going negative, slinging mud at his opponent over a matter not relevant to the campaign. That is a misguided and shortsighted view. With the national stage Toomey now has, the opportunity to expose a scandal of gigantic proportions, reaching all the way to what a growing percentage of Americans now view as the most corrupt presidential administration in this nation's history, is now his as well.

As a one-time congressman seeking higher office in the Senate, conventional wisdom - in addition to his handlers - is likely telling Toomey to play it safe by riding the wave of Tea Party conservatism which will help him defeat Sestak in the arena of ideas while capitalizing on the momentum that is expected to benefit conservative Republicans in November.

This scandal is much bigger than Toomey's aspirations. It's also much bigger than taking down Sestak before the election. The irony is that what Toomey likely perceives as going negative may just be the best thing he could possibly do for his country. With the national exposure that accompanies this campaign coupled with Sestak's self-inflicted wound, Toomey has the opportunity to achieve greatness by putting his political aspirations in the back seat; that's irony.
Sestak is quite possibly the means by which to bring down the Obama White House and the Clintons along with it, but it will take a focused campaign by Pat Toomey and continual pounding by the New Media to help get the job done in the run up to November.

The MSM? Maybe.

Everybody Draw Mohammed Day

Today is Everybody Draw Mohammed Day. Here are a few interesting items, which list I may expand during this day celebrating the God-given right to freedom of speech.

Via Instapundit, let's start with Mark Steyn:
I’m bored with death threats. And, as far as I’m concerned, if that’s your opening conversational gambit, then any obligation on my part to ‘cultural sensitivity’ and ‘mutual respect’ is over. The only way to stop this madness destroying our liberties is (as Ayaan Hirsi Ali puts it) to spread the risk. Everybody Draws Mohammed Day does just that.
Over at PajamasMedia, Zombie sees the beginnings of The New Free Speech Movement:

Luckily, outside of a few Middle Eastern countries, the Islamists do not have the power to enforce their hellish vision of society. But that doesn’t stop them from trying. Where they can’t impose their religious rules by force, they try to impose them by fear and intimidation. Since we have our freedoms permanently etched into our Constitution, the Islamists are going to have little luck getting blasphemy laws passed in the U.S. Yet they can achieve the same result if they can use terror to bring about our own self-censorship. Which is exactly what they have set about doing, the most recent round starting with the murder of Theo Van Gogh in 2004 and reaching the boiling point with the Danish Cartoon Controversy in 2006. The pot hasn’t stopped boiling since. The Islamists’ strategy is to kill, or threaten to kill, anyone who gets media attention for “disrespecting” Islam or Mohammed — thereby convincing the rest of us infidels to remain silent if we know what’s good for us.

And here we come to the crux of the matter. Which side in this conflict gets to determine what counts as “disrespectful” (a contemporary euphemism for “blasphemous”)? In the jihadists’ view, any depiction of Mohammed — even a positive or honorific depiction — is deemed blasphemous. It’s our religion, they say, so we get to say what’s offensive. Yet if we grant them this inch, they’ll take another inch (it’s also disrespectful to write Mohammed’s name without a worshipful “PBUH” after it), and another inch (it’s disrespectful to criticize Islam in any way), and before long it’s the whole mile, and we once again will be living in an intellectual Middle Ages in which religious tyrants dictate our every thought and action.

So you can see the urge of every sane-minded Westerner to say a hearty Fuck you! to anyone who tries to erode away the bedrock of our free society. The more insistent (and violent) these attempts at erosion, the less civil the resistance will become. Which is exactly as it should be. If the Islamists want us to to stop mocking (or even questioning) Mohammed, they can achieve this goal quite simply: Just go away and leave us alone. Don’t bother us, and we won’t bother you. Seriously, 99% of non-Muslims don’t give a good goddamn about Mohammed one way or the other, and we’d gladly ignore him and his followers until the end of time – if they’d just stop trying to boss us around. But if someone comes to our safe haven and tries to impose a repressive or restrictive rule on us, then that is the exact rule we’re going to flout until the interlopers learn their lesson: We don’t take kindly to bullshit medieval religious oppression in these parts.

And here is Zombie's Mohammed Image Archive.

Matt Welch points out the folly (and the media's hypocrisy) of giving in to Islamist outrage, which is often feigned AND fanned by Muslim leaders themselves:

It is unconscionable that–under murderous duress!–those in the free speechin' business would suddenly cede the authority to depict a really existing historical figure to a loud minority's religious preferences. If the Church of Scientology tomorrow declared all depictions of L. Ron Hubbard verboten, and backed up the prohibition with just enough car-burning and death-threats to keep people on their toes, would the L.A. Times and 99 percent of American newspapers comply with the command? As Tim Cavanaugh pointed out in 2006, and as you can see at the Mohammed Image Archive, there is a rich tradition of Muslim depictions of the Prophet. What's more–and this point can never be stressed enough–three of the images that enraged Muslims to the point of killing 10 people were never published in any Danish newspaper. Their exact provenance is unknown, but they were circulated and popularized by the outrage-ginning Imams themselves. The most offended were arguably the biggest offenders.
The Good Michelle celebrates with a flashback to 2006 in Dhimmitude and Draw Mohammed Day:
I noted the other day that Internet jihadists were leaving death threat comments on the Facebook page of the “Draw Mohammed Day” organizer. Now, the Internet jihadi sympathizers are crowing this morning on Twitter about Facebook taking the DMD page down. As I write, the page appears to be back up. Who knows for how long.

If you’ve been reading this blog regularly for years, you know that dhimmitude at social networking and Web2.0 sites is nothing new. Nor is dhimmitude in the MSM or in higher education or in Washington. It’s the Achilles’ heel of Western civilization.

In honor of Draw Mohammed Day today, I’m reprinting below the post I published on January 1, 2006 during the original Mohammed Cartoon conflagration and the post I wrote at the end of 2006 on the deceit behind the manufactured Mo outrage. We’ve been here before. It’s about much more than free speech. The Muslim cartoon jihadists know it.

Democrat Blumenthal Lied About Serving In Vietnam

Crapweasel.

Democrat Senatorial candidate Richard Blumenthal, thy name is Mud. Dig it:
At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to soldiers overseas, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut rose and spoke of an earlier time in his life.

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.

Obama's Criticism Of Harriet Miers Rises From The Memory Hole

Via Hot Air and thanks to Breitbart and Naked Emperor News, who uncovered this nugget that showcases Obama's monumental hypocrisy on Supreme Court nominees. Here he is talking about Harriet Miers' shortcomings as a nominee, which coincidentally almost perfectly align with those of political operative Elena Kagen:

AP:
Remember when he acknowledged that Roberts and Alito were super-qualified but insisted he had to vote no because they didn’t have enough “empathy” ‘n stuff? Remember how he actually voted to filibuster Alito, a move that would have our low-rent in-the-tank national media reaching for smelling salts if the GOP pulled it against Kagan? All of that was Obama’s way of sucking up to his base ahead of his presidential campaign; what a joy to be able to use it — and this — against him now for a nominee whom even his biggest toady in the blogosphere describes as embodying “a new level of utter blankness.” Think the bit about being extra forthcoming still holds?

Andrew McCarthy: Holder Is Profiling Arizona

No kidding: Eric Holder has been making the rounds declaring that he is "troubled" by Arizona's illegal immigration law, and yet he yestified yesterday before a Congressional hearing that he hasn't even read the thing.

McCarthy:
He hasn’t read the Arizona immigration law, even though reading the law is the basic duty of any lawyer (let alone the U.S. Attorney General) who is called on to assess a legal situation.

Thus, he hasn’t got reasonable suspicion that Arizonans are violating the Constitution, even though reasonable suspicion is the basic investigative standard we expect law-enforcement to satisfy before officials harass Americans with stepped up scrutiny. …

If a police officer, without taking elementary investigative steps to inform himself about the facts of a situation, and thus without reasonable suspicion, simply assumed a person must be guilty of wrongdoing based on the police officer’s avowed prejudice, what would Eric Holder call it?

Ed Morrissey:
Holder certainly wouldn’t call it responsible law-enforcement. The irony is, of course, that the Arizona law doesn’t allow for profiling, and its most recent amendment removes any remaining ambiguity about when police can investigate residency status, which is when they have probable cause to hold someone on another issue. Holder’s knee-jerk reaction says plenty about bigotry, but not about people in Arizona.

The Abu Wabu Red Meat Conservative Film Festival, Volume 1

Two videos have come out in recent days which together I think illustrate the mood and tenor of the Conservative tidal wave that is going to engulf the Obama regime in November. They speak for themselves, so heeeeeeere we go.

First up, Senator Jim DeMint speaking at David Horowitz's annual Santa Barbara Retreat about the Conservative agenda in 2010 and beyond:

And now New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, whose devastating takedown of a columnist whining about Christie's "confrontational style" is sure to become a classic in the annals of dealing with the usual leftist slander:

Gov Christie calls S-L columnist thin-skinned for inquiring about his 'confrontational tone'

Shocker: No White Middle-Aged Male Tea Partiers Arrested In Times Square Bomb Plot FBI Raids

But three Pakistanis were arrested in Boston and Maine, apparently as possible financiers in the plot to set off a bomb in Times Square.
Federal authorities have arrested three New England men in connection with the attempted Times Square bombing, Fox News has learned.

FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Thursday morning executed search warrants in "several locations in the Northeast," a statement from ICE said.

At least two raids were in Boston suburbs, where two of the men were arrested. The third man was arrested in Maine, while search warrants related to the case were also executed in Camden County, N.J., and on Long Island in New York.

Authorities are looking into whether the New England men, all three from Pakistan, and others may have had any role in the Times Square plot or any prior knowledge of it.

"These raids are the logical next step in the investigation, after gathering preliminary information to ascertain where money may have come from," one source said. "We're trying to figure out where [the main suspect] got money from, and these are potential sources of that money."
But here's a new twist in the narrative: they may have been "duped" by the accused in the case, Faisal Shahzad.
But, the source said, the New England men may have "unwittingly assisted in some capacity." In fact, the source said, the main suspect in the case, 30-year-old Faisal Shahzad, may have duped the men into providing money, but authorities are not ruling out anything at this point.
Sure. Because nothing ever happens on purpose in the world of Islamofascist terror attacks on Western civilization. It's all just a series of really incredible coincidences and easily duped, innocent Muslim plotters rather than the imaginary bad kind fabricated by Right Wing Nazi Racist imaginations.

Fighting The New Hollywood Black List

Andrew Klavan cites the obvious in City Journal:
Over the last 40 years, leftism has failed in every particular but one: it has succeeded in demonizing the opposition.

Leftists will blacklist you—and then if you complain, they’ll attack you for whining. They will call you a racist and compare your leaders to Hitler—and then if you return the insult, they’ll scream about the decline of civility. They will do everything in their power to cut you off from media and artistic outlets—and then when you create outlets of your own, they will savage them for their bias. Like the mobster in a Raymond Chandler novel, they will beat your teeth out, then kick you in the stomach for mumbling.

As a result of leftists’ success in marginalizing dissenting opinions, nothing now creates a greater commotion in modern American discourse than speaking the obvious truth.

Tea Partiers have experienced this for over a year now, as Americans both inside and outside that movement are beginning to realize the sheer nastiness of leftist intolerance, which goes right to the top in the person of Obama. Klavan's point is what that nastiness is doing to Hollywood and entertainment in general, and how the Right is fighting back with courage, honesty and adherence to its principles.

On The Left's Anti-South Bigotry

A leftard once derisively described to me the good folks of the American South as "you know - the NASCAR people," (he was prone to profiling) clumsily oblivious to the fact that I happen to be a proud member in good standing of his target of derision and bigotry (oh but he loves the jazz, don'tcha know). So it's refreshing to read this observation in the Guardian:
Oddly, the same people who disparage us also have love affairs with our culture. They ridicule us and then profess their love for Nina Simone, Austin, Johnny Cash or Louisiana's crawfish etouffee dish when it's trendy. This brings me to my favourite specimens: cocktail party progressives. You know the type – can't converse without referencing the New Yorker. Pretentious, self-congratulatory liberals who applaud their own humanity while mocking the south.
I appreciate the author's conclusion:
I adore our southern nights and the taste of authenticity in Willie Nelson's voice and Muddy Waters' blues. I love that we celebrate colossally in New Orleans: Jazz Fest, Crawfish Fest, Mardi Gras, even Jazz Funerals. I was touched when kind neighbours baked us casseroles and stood by us as we endured post-9/11 racism. I am proud that Houstonians opened their homes to 250,000 New Orleans evacuees. That's genuine southern hospitality. Southerners are not the ignorant, inbreeding, toothless rifle-owning trailer trash that my progressive colleagues paint them as. They are vibrant, passionate Americans with resolve. They have survived and flourished through the civil rights movement, disastrous hurricanes and oil spills, Enron and Halliburton scandals, the Fort Hood tragedy and their loved ones coming home in body bags.

They have epic stories. It's time our media act as their vessels.

NRO On Elena Kagen

I have barely begun reading it and already I find this nugget in NRO's Symposium on the Kagan nomination:
Let’s stipulate that the substance of Kagan’s views about how judges should interpret the Constitution is “within the mainstream.” So what? The important question is not where her views fall on the bell curve. The important question is whether her views are correct. If Elena Kagan’s views on basic matters of justice central to the common good are wrong — and if these matters fall within her purview as a justice, to be settled by her and as few as four colleagues for all 300 million Americans – then she should be denied confirmation.

Obama Exposé "The Manchurian President" A Hot Seller

Aaron Klein's blockbuster Obama exposé book, "The Manchurian President," is naturally proving popular with the American public, whose impoverishment at the hands of the most fiscally ignorant president in American history is finally moving them to action against the Obama Socialist State.

From World Net Daily:

Aaron Klein's exposé of Barack Obama's notorious connections with extremists and America-haters has skyrocketed to the No. 1 position on both Amazon.com's "Hot New Releases in Politics" list and the online seller's "Hot New Releases in Non-Fiction" list.

Watch for Opey's next commencement speech to feature a finger-wagging diatribe like this, but against the publishing industry.

The Good News: Lady Luck 2, Terrorists 0

The Bad News: There's always next time.

Bush and Cheney prevented numerous terrorist attacks in America for seven years after 9/11 by pursuing the bastards on their own turf, running them down, learning their secrets and killing them, all while still finding the time to personally waterboard entire families just out for ice cream.

In contrast, Obama's record of preventing terrorist attacks at home is an alarming failure mitigated only by blind luck. By "alarming failure" I mean four, count 'em, four attacks on American soil in Obama's first fifteen months, including that Fort Hood thing in which Islamist terrorist Nidal Hasan screamed "Allahuh Ackbar" and murdered fourteen human beings, including an unborn baby, this after being flagged as a potential terrorist by his own colleagues.

Now the Times Square Bomber's story is painting an increasingly damaging picture of the Obama regime's national security-threatening incompetence.

Power Line's John Hinderaker explains all in the masterful Mystery Solved, and Anne Coulter defines the Obama Doctrine.

Obama: Nashville? Urrrrwhat's A Nashville?

Via Red State

Behold, Barack Obama's National Day of Prayer proclamation, issued April 30, 2010:
Let us remember in our thoughts and prayers those suffering from natural disasters in Haiti, Chile, and elsewhere, and the people from those countries and from around the world who have worked tirelessly and selflessly to render aid. Let us pray for the families of the West Virginia miners, and the people of Poland who so recently and unexpectedly lost many of their beloved leaders
The Tennessee flood hit the very next day on May 1, and Obama has not said a single word or made a single gesture in public to the disaster occurring there. People have died, property and infrastructure have been decimated, and the man is oblivious.

What, is he not polling well there?

Justice For All Three Navy SEALs

Matthew McCabe is a free man, reports Fox News:

A Virginia military jury found a Navy SEAL not guilty Thursday on all charges he punched an Iraqi suspected in the 2004 killings of four U.S. contractors in Fallujah.
"I'm really happy right now," Matthew McCabe, the Navy SEAL, told Fox News shortly after hearing the outcome of the court martial. "It's an amazing feeling. I'm on cloud nine right now."

McCabe, a special operations petty officer second class, called the proceedings "troubling at times," adding "having your career on the line is not an easy thing to handle.

McCabe was the third and final Navy SEAL to be prosecuted in the case. He had faced charges of assault, making a false official statement and dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee. McCabe was accused of punching last year is Ahmed Hashim Abed, the suspected mastermind of the grisly killings six years ago.
Also charged in this fucking fiasco were Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2 and Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, both of whom have also been found not guilty.

So it seems this was just another case of a terrorist asshole gaming the military system and the bleeding heart PC cranks running it from the top. You know: the same PC cranks who didn't stop the Fort Hood massacre because they were Politically Correct Cowards.

I agree with Drew M. over at AoSHQ: give these men some leave, then set them free to go out and kill some more of these bastards.

Lots more.

Glenn Reynolds:
They were betting on Navy SEALs wimping out. How smart was that? And now we know to regard future charges with skepticism.

Leftist Violence And Murder In Greece

It is heart-rending to watch my beloved Greece fall to wanton leftist violence, destruction and murder. These photos via Power Line boil the tragedy down to two very powerful symbols: the immolation of order and the murder of the innocent, two sure harbingers of leftist revolution.

John Hinderaker:
I think it was Mark Steyn who wrote that the dark night of fascism is always supposed to be descending on the United States, but somehow it keeps landing in Europe. I'm afraid we are seeing that once again. Europe is in serious trouble.

Inevitable

At Real Clear Politics, “Media Narrative Changes: First They Blame The ‘Right-Wing’ Now They Fear ‘Racism.’”

As I said here, I encourage the left-wing media complex to go right on expressing their idiocy every chance they get, because they continue to insult the very people whose hard-earned, after-Obama-tax dollars they need to survive. And those people are abandoning the left-wing media complex in droves with every new insult to their intelligence and judgement.

Times Square Bomber Not A Tea Partier; Contessa Brewer, Other Left Wing Bigots Hardest Hit

Radio Equalizer Brian Maloney reports on MSLSD moronette Contessa Brewer's abject stupidity as she decries the fact that the Times Square bomber was not a Tea Partier, or at the very least a homegrown angry white guy.

How's that for irony? Maloney:

So much for the white male "tea partier" fantasy our left-wing state run media friends had projected right into the Times Square bombing attempt. With the bad news delivered today in the form of a suspect with Pakistani ties, "progressives" are crying into their soy lattes.

Admitting this out loud, however, is another story. Isn't this thought process better kept to one's self? Not to MSNBC's Contessa Brewer, who apparently thought libtalk was a safe place to reveal her anti-American agenda.
Of course, Mayor Bloomberg and Fox leftard strategerist Blob Beckel are on the same bandwagon.

The good news is that now there is no safe place for this sort of bigoted drivel, which I encourage these idiots to go right on expressing every chance they get.

Every such attack renews the left-wing/media complex's hate-based hope that the perpetrator will be a "crazed conservative", and the expectation on the right, based on years of empirical evidence, that it is in fact the work of a jihadist. As Jonah Goldberg points out, the left's hateful hopes are destructive in more ways than one:
This liberal tendency is not just offensive because it assumes that American citizens – including vets – are somehow an under-appreciated terrorist threat. Though that is plenty awful in and of itself.

It is also disgustingly undemocratic. Why? because so many of these people, starting with Obama himself but including former Presidents Clinton and Carter, the Democratic Party, the editorial pages of the New York Times, and much of the rest of the liberal dominated media, use this talk about the “rhetorical climate” on the right as a means to bully it into silence. That’s what Obama did in his recent commencement address and that’s what hundreds of commentators and bloggers have been doing in response to the tea parties.

They’re saying, “You people need to shut up because you’re aiding and abetting terrorists.” They’re also trying to say to independents: “If you think the rightwingers are persuasive, you need to think again. They’re all just mouthpieces and stalking horses for the homegrown terrorists and the mentally deranged.”

And, last, it’s also dangerous. Not because it will breed frustration and anger among Americans who feel unfairly demonized for simply voicing their objections (though if liberals really believe the nonsense they spew about conservatives, they might ponder that). No, it’s dangerous because it causes the country to look for terrorists where they aren’t while telling them not to look for them where they are.
All of which pretty neatly sums up just how hateful and ruthless the Obama-led left really is.

GM Chief Ed Whitacre Should Resign

So I take my immaculate, low-mileage Corvette Z06 to my friendly neighborhood Chevy dealer for its annual spa treatment. I turn the keys over to Kevin and head for the showroom to see what's going on; it is, after all, a showroom.

I like the Gunmetal Grey Cadillac CTS-V; 550-plus horsepower, gigantic brakes and magnetic suspension, plus a leathery cocoon interior. 7:59 at the Nurburgring on stock tires at the hands of John Heinricy, yo. I like this area very much.

Then I see this gigantic wall display announcing that GM has repaid its debt to the Canadian and American governments. It has a picture on it of General Motors CEO Ed Whitacre and big quotes, so it must be true, yay?

Except it's not, as Jim Hoft explains:
Representatives Darrell Issa of (R-CA) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a blistering letter to General Motors CEO Ed Whitacre this week accusing the company of misleading the American public. The new GM television ad suggests GM repaid its taxpayer-funded loan with the company’s own earnings when it used separate bailout money to repay the $4.7 billion balance of the original $7.1 billion government loan.

GM was only able to pay back their bailout money early by dipping into a separate pot of taxpayer bailout money.
I'm pulling for GM the company. I'm not pulling for Obama or his kiss-asses like Ed Whitacre. As a car guy and a lifelong Chevy guy I was willing to give Whitacre a chance, but he has mislead GM customers and taxpayers in service to Obama's narrative, and that stinks. It's a betrayal of the trust invested in GM by its customers and the taxpayers, and Whitacre should be ashamed of himself.

Ed Whitacre should also resign.
