What About Mary Jo?
When a man (if you’ll forgive the expression) confronts the truth of what he has done, what does honor require?
The EITs Worked, Case Closed
On a Saturday morning in late August, while [sic] country was away on summer vacation and those who closely watch politics were watching Ted Kennedy's funeral, the Washington Post quietly hung up the mainstream media's white flag on the CIA's harsh interrogation tactics. It turns out, they work — who knew?
Fortunately, Steve Hayes has stayed on the case and, at the Standard's blog, he's got the story about the story — along with excerpts from the essential report by FDD's Tom Joscelyn (also in the Standard, here) relating the effectiveness of the CIA program and an important op-ed by FDD's Reuel Marc Gerecht (in the Wall Street Journal, here) about the devastating consequences of the Obama administration's decision to investigate the CIA over interrogation practices. My own assessments of the legal meritlessness of the case against the interrogators and the reasons why it is being persued anyway by President Obama and Attorney General Holder are here and here.
As they say, you're entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts. The MSM has tried to have both for the last five years, arguing against experience and common sense that tactics like sleep-deprivation and waterboarding were not effective. Clearly, they worked, and to great effect. As Steve says, that case should now be closed.
Obviously, there is still a principled argument to be made that the nation should not engage in such practices. But the burden of making it in a principled way should be to say: "While this is an excruciating choice, it would be better for thousands of Americans to be killed than to allow the CIA to use non-lethal coercive tactics (that cause no lasting physical or mental damage) on a terrorist who refuses to tell us what he knows about ongoing mass-murder plots."

Idiot: Mary Jo Kopechne Would Have Been Proud Of Her Murderer's Accomplishments As A Liberal UPDATED
We don't know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she'd have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history. What we don't know, as always, could fill a Metrodome.UPDATE
Still, ignorance doesn't preclude a right to wonder [Obviously not ~ Ed.]. So it doesn't automatically make someone (aka, me) a Limbaugh-loving, aerial-wolf-hunting NRA troll for asking what Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted's death, and what she'd have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded.
Who knows -- maybe she'd feel it was worth it.

Cheney: Documents Absolve CIA's Use of EIT; Americans Believe Obama Irresponsible On National Security
The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002. The activities of the CIA in carrying out the policies of the Bush Administration were directly responsible for defeating all efforts by al Qaeda to launch further mass casualty attacks against the United States. The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions. President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security.

Rush Limbaugh caught a TON of flack for predicting that Democrats and other Obamacare supporters would exploit Ted Kennedy's eventual (and, they hoped, timely) passing by using it to promote their cause. Sure enough, that is exactly what is happening today: he isn't even in the ground and he is already being used as a pawn by the cloying left in service to their political agenda.
Entirely predictable.
But Rush has an excellent proposal: if the left really want to honor Ted Kennedy's memory with a health care bill, how's about they pass one that guarantees every American the same health care coverage that Ted Kennedy had?
Also on the table for discussion: What Kennedy did to Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas and their families; his treasonous machinations with the Soviet leadership; his gross womanizing that often crossed over to sexual assault; we could go on - others no doubt will.
Crittendon:
Regarding Kennedy himself, they don’t exactly need to fire up the hagiography. Ted Kennedy’s image enhancement has been a life-long project that only requires the bow of a national funeral extravaganza. Served in the Army, 51-53, didn’t go to Korea, overcame a Harvard cheating scandal, slid into his big brother’s seat, held for him till he was old enough, dodged responsibility in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, though whether he dodged consequences is debatable. It’s hard to image anyone else holding a Senate seat after that, but he didn’t get to be president.
There's no limit to the chicanery that's coming in Kennedy's name. Ace points out the flip side of that:
Hey, if they want to brand the man and use him for politics, it's fair game.
The Drooler declares Obama the last Kennedy brother. Still clinging to Camelot, eh Chrissy?
Three Beers Later has a retrospective.
Power Line's Scott Johnson addresses the key aspect of Kennedy's legacy:
Senator Kennedy's unconstrained opposition to Bork's appointment has indeed had profound effects in the practice of "judicial politics," preeminently in the confirmation proceedings following the nomination of Justice Thomas, but also more recently in the confirmation of Justice Alito. And it has become something of a template for liberal attacks on mainstream conservatives beyond the realm of judicial politics.
The tone set by Senator Kennedy in connection with the Bork nomination lives on in the Senate. It also lives on in the mainstream media -- see, for example, John Hinderaker's "A conspiracy so lunatic" -- and on the left-wing side of the Internet. Indeed, we have seen it on display this month in the White House/Reid/Pelosi attack on the opponents of Obamacare.
We live in Edward Kennedy's America not only in the consequential legislation that he sponsored and saw through the Senate, but also in the afterlife of the vulgar political sham on which Senator Kennedy relied to defeat the nomination of Judge Bork.

Wee Wee Wee Wee All The Way Home
Cajonus Giganticus has a voting majority in Congress and a filibuster-proof lock on the Senate, and he wants you to believe it's the Big Bad Rethugs blocking his glorious moral imperative?
The man is a clown.
Everyone knows the Republicans as presently constituted couldn't have organized opposition to Obamacare if they'd had a year's head start (they had more than that for 2008 and here we are). The entire Republican caucus could quit and go home and Obamacare still wouldn't pass into law. Obama knows that as well as you and I do, so chalk up another lie to the Liar in Chief.
The fact is that the American people are standing up to Obama and will purge Congress in '10 and the White House in '12, regardless of who is at the GOP helm. Because this isn't about party politics; this is about saving the People from what They increasingly recognize as Obama's lies.
Freshly Ironied
The administration of a former teacher of constitutional law complains about Americans exercising their constitutional right to petition the government for redress of grievances. A party that elected a community organizer president complains about organized communities. One of the architects of the Democrats’ current health-care strategy (Rep. Jan Schakowsky) is the very community organizer responsible for the horde of seniors that surrounded Rostenkowski’s car. Last year, dissent was the highest form of patriotism. Now, dissent is un-American, and reporting dissent is suddenly patriotic. Who knows what fresh irony tomorrow will bring?
Messiah Goes Messiah
The New York Post recounts president Cajonus Giganticus' conference call with the National Council of Churches, which was just another Obama-style gigantic carnival of lies. Some translations:
Repeatedly invoking the Bible, President Obama yesterday told religious leaders that health-care critics are "bearing false witness" against his plan.In reality, no-one is more guilty of bearing false witness in the Obamacare fiasco than Obama himself.
In particular, Obama said the claim that the government would make decisions regarding end-of-life care for the elderly -- the so-called "death panels" -- is "ludicrous" and an "extraordinary lie."Which is why, I guess, Sarah Palin's famous charge forced the Senate Finance Committee to drop the section of the bill mandating those very death panels. You want "ludicrous and extraordinary lies"? Just listen to the Liar in Chief.
He also disputed charges that the overhaul would pay for abortions and care for illegal immigrants. But again, when it comes to abortion and illegal immigration, Obama lies and lies and lies again.
He said the reforms aim to carry out one of God's commandments.Please.
"I am my brother's keeper. I am my sister's keeper," Obama said.
He called health reform a "core ethical and moral obligation."
He likened his current situation to that of Franklin D. Roosevelt when opponents called him "socialist."Which, of course, as everyone knows, Roosevelt certainly was and Obama certainly is. Which is why Obama himself lies so much.
Accusing opponents of bearing false witness? Nice try, straight out of Saul Alinsky's playbook. But all this idiot has done is offend half the country all over again.
Not So Fast
There is no doubt, however, that Obama's stated intention to remove American forces is emboldening Iraq's enemies; it remains to be seen if he will voice firm support for Iraq's innocents. He has quietly offered assistance to Maliki through Oderno, but that's not enough. Keeping a low profile will have the same result there as it has in Iran, whose terrorist leadership took Obama's silence as a signal that it's open season, as described today at Power Line in Iran's Great Purge.

More Obama Lies
American Thinker's David Hass has written a barnburner critique of Obama's Obamacare lies titled, amazingly enough, Lies, Lies And More Lies:
President Obama's lies in Montana were the most egregious falsehoods since Bill Clinton said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman".It's true.
That's not good.
AAOS: Obama Is Full Of Crap
"Where we do disagree, let's disagree over things that are real, not these wild misrepresentations that bear no resemblance to anything that's actually been proposed."
So sayeth the president, as quoted in The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' answer to Obama's attack on their honor.
Can't wait for the next time Opey slanders an entire demographic.
The good news? He does it almost every day.
UPDATE
Via Ed Morrissey
Placing the above statement in its broader context allows one to savor some of that sweet, sweet Obamalicious self-contradiction:
We are bound to disagree, but let’s disagree over issues that are real, and not wild misrepresentations that bear no resemblance to anything that anyone has actually proposed. This is a complicated and critical issue, and it deserves a serious debate.
...
I hear more and more stories like these every single day, and it is why we are acting so urgently to pass health-insurance reform this year.
This is a familiar Obama tactic. Give lip service through high sounding rhetoric about “serious debate”, but in reality be focused on “urgently pass[ing] health insurance this year” and avoiding debate. It is supposed to fool you into thinking he’s committed to debate while in reality he’s trying to push this legislation through as quickly as possible.
I have a gift, Harry.

McCarthy: Nazis For Me, But Not For Thee
Then Rush Limbaugh stepped up and put it all in its proper context, observing that the Speaker's charges offered a propitious opportunity to examine the Obamacare plan and its close relationship with health care policy in National Socialist Germany. The inevitable result was a firestorm of lies, misrepresentations and outright slanders against Rush, all of which he has dispatched with alacrity.
NRO's brilliant Andrew C. McCarthy has today added his own voice to the debate in Nazis for Me, but Not for Thee, in which he poses the question invited by Pelosi's idiocy. Namely, Why shouldn’t socialized medicine prompt comparisons to National Socialism?
Obama has already imposed state control on a broad swath of private enterprise under the pretense of TARP and the stimulus bill, and his distinctly socialist plans for cap-and-tax and government-controlled health care are already proven to increase the size and reach of government and attack individual freedoms. It therefore behooves the American people to educate themselves about the evil consequences of statism in all its forms, including the German National Socialism that murdered millions and almost completely overran the world in the last century, effects whose causes remain exclusive to totalitarian forms of government, especially socialism in all its various mutations.Rush responded, and the response did not smear Democrats. He repeatedly and explicitly qualified that no one was saying Obama was Hitler, that Pelosi was Goebbels, or that the Democrats were engaged in the genocidal barbarity of the Third Reich. The comparison he drew was a substantive one: between the Democrats’ proposal for socialized medicine and the German installation of socialized medicine beginning with Bismarck and reaching its shocking apotheosis with Hitler’s National Socialism. (A transcript of what he actually contended is here, and his website has other relevant transcripts, since the argument was reiterated other times during the week.) The point was to show that if Pelosi wanted to engage in Nazi comparisons, the health-care policies of Nazi Germany had far more in common with the health-care policies of the Democrats than with those of the conservative opposition, which wants health care kept private and reforms to be market-based.
Whether you agree with that or not (I happen to think it’s undeniable), Rush was also making a larger point that is not only fair argument but essential argument. There is a trajectory of socialism, regardless of the good intentions of many socialists. As he framed it, you take things such as health care, things that are traditionally understood as within the ambit of individual liberty and free choice; you move such things into the ambit of state responsibility as the welfare state emerges and grows, on the theory that it is government’s responsibility to provide for everyone’s needs (by redistributing resources); as more things are moved from private to public control, the state by definition becomes totalitarian; and, inexorably, the totalitarian state gets bad leaders and the society comes to reflect the policy choices of those leaders.
Now, we can argue until the end of time about whether that trajectory really exists and whether it is inevitable. But however you come out, it is an argument very much worth having. It goes to what kind of society we are going to be, to what the proper relationship between the citizen and the state is.Nazi Germany is a useful historical example of socialism run amok. The genocide and terrorism ultimately practiced by the Nazis were horrible — that goes without saying. But National Socialism went on for a dozen years, it was the last stage in a progressive nationalization of German society, and there was a lot more to it than genocide and terrorism. It cannot be that because there was genocide and terrorism, the socialist aspects of National Socialism are outside the lines of acceptable political discourse. Given the immense popularity of Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism, one of the most important political books of the last quarter-century, it doesn’t look like Americans are as convinced as Mort Kondracke seems to be that these comparisons are verboten.
McCarthy's closing point serves notice to Pelosi and her fellow lefty hypocrites that they don't get to control this discussion:
National Socialism is banned from the Right’s case against socialism, but is somehow acceptable when leftists use it as a smear or when the Left’s nuanced geniuses, after their very thoughtful consideration, decide its invocation is suitable for mature audiences? I don’t think so.Read Nazis for Me, but Not for Thee
Congressional Death Panel Euthanizes Section 1233
The MSM and the idiot left collectively derided Sarah Palin's criticism of Section 1233 of Obamacare, which would have done exactly what similar legislation does in Oregon, as Mark Levin details in his book "Liberty and Tyranny":
Had they bothered to exercise intellectual curiosity instead of attacking the messenger as usual, Palin's bigoted critics would have discovered her detailed evaluation of Section 1233 fully informed and based on sound research and reasoning (idiots can look that last word up in a big book called a "dictionary")."Barbara Wagner was diagnosed with a recurrence of lung cancer. Her doctors recommended a specific drug to help prolong and improve the quality of her life.
"However, Barbara is a resident of Oregon and therefore, part of the state-run Oregon Health Plan. The state refused Barbara Wagner's request for the drug since it doesn't cover drugs that are meant to prolong the life of individuals with advanced cancer. After all, when the Oregon Health Plan was established in 1994 it 'was expressly intended to ration health care'" to save money." But Oregon also has legalized assisted suicide, and in an unsigned letter from the state, Barbara was informed that the health plan would pay to cover the costs of a doctor to help her kill herself," but not give her the drug to prolong her life. She was not ready to have herself killed. "However, it seemed she had reached a dead end until a pharmaceutical company that invented the drug learned about her case and stepped in to provide Barbara with the drug free of charge."
After the Liar in Chief lamely tried to dismiss her criticisms during his latest TV show as just a “rumor” to be “disposed of”, Palin refused to back down and in fact broadened her critique:
And then a curious thing happened. The "rumor" the Liar in Chief pretended to "dispose of" turned out not to be a rumor but rather a fact, because the Senate Finance Committee just announced it is removing Section 1233 from the Obamacare bill.Of course, it’s not just this one provision that presents a problem. My original comments concerned statements made by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a health policy advisor to President Obama and the brother of the President’s chief of staff. Dr. Emanuel has written that some medical services should not be guaranteed to those “who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens....An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.” [10] Dr. Emanuel has also advocated basing medical decisions on a system which “produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated.” [11]
President Obama can try to gloss over the effects of government authorized end-of-life consultations, but the views of one of his top health care advisors are clear enough. It’s all just more evidence that the Democratic legislative proposals will lead to health care rationing, and more evidence that the top-down plans of government bureaucrats will never result in real health care reform.
Chalk up yet another lie to the Liar in Chief.
Once again we see that the left, led by their Liar in Chief, simply cannot be honest with the public about their ambitions, in this case Obamacare, because they know a fully informed public will reject it en masse as is already happening. Birds fly; fish swim; Americans reject socialism. Socialists know this, so they lie about their intentions and machinations, but Americans are discovering that the smooth-talking Liar in Chief is in fact a prototypical socialist, a totalitarian statist who has surrounded himself his entire adult life with some of the most rabid, anti-American socialists in the country.

Obama's Biggest Lie Yet
Let's compare the promises Obama has made about this matter in the past and compare them to what he actually did behind everyone's backs.
First, on CNN in 2007 he specifically ruled out "negotiating behind closed doors" and promised to bring "all parties together and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so the American people can see what those choices are, and part of what we have to do is enlist the American people in this process." So he lied about that.
He repeated to the SF Chronicle that "the public will be part of the consultation and will see the choices that are being made." He further stated at the same time that "if a member of congress is carrying water for the drug companies and says, well, we can't negotiate for the cheapest price on drugs because we need the money for R&D research, we'll have a discussion right there in front of the American people about the fact that the drug companies do need profits but they're also spending a whole bunch of it on marketing and television ads where nobody even knows what the drug is for. That, um, builds accountability into the system, because now that congressman is put on the spot, and I would not underestimate the degree to which shame is a healthy emotion and that you can shame Congress into doing the right thing if people know what's going on."
Well now.
Having repeated all that many times in interviews, debates and countless campaign appearances right across the country, it turns out that it was not a member of Congress who has been carrying water for the drug companies but Obama himself. And he negotiated not the lowest possible price for drugs without regard for what they spend "on marketing and television ads where nobody even knows what the drug is for" but instead accepted the price demanded by the drug companies in exchange for spending $150 million on ads for Obamacare. So, by Obama's own professed understanding of human nature, it should follow that he will feel shame at having been caught selling out the American people, including his own followers, to so-called Big Pharma in service to his personal ambitions, in this case his goal of forcing on the country a massively destructive socialist medical system.
Will Obama be shamed into doing the right thing and admitting that he threw the entire country under the bus? No. My understanding of Obama's nature is that he has no sense of shame, any remnants having been long ago supplanted by his monstrous narcissism.
So we'll probably be witness to a whole new level of stonewalling and baldfaced lies from the White House and probably the MSM as well.
Obama has once again been exposed as a colossal liar, but this is his biggest one yet.
Until whatever revelation comes next.

Obama Rewards Sharia-Promoter Mary Robinson
Power Line has more on the Robinson debacle in The Mary Robinson caper; who done it? and Mary Robinson, enemy of freedom.A few ugly incidents still cling to my psyche:
* Each nongovernmental organization, or NGO, was invited to set up a booth. In a presentation that would have brought tears of joy to the eyes of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, a Cairo-based lawyers group proudly displayed scores of political cartoons depicting Israelis as Nazis or subhumans.
* As a CNN reporter posed a question at our caucus' news conference, 40 Muslim women from Iran burst in and physically tried to stop our event.
* On Friday, Durban's chief of police gently but firmly urged us not to attempt to walk the 21/2 blocks from the conference to the Jewish Community Center. "I cannot guarantee your safety," he told me. Outside, there were 17,000 anti-Zionist protesters, some of whom held up the banner: "Hitler Was Right!"
* The ill-fated "final NGO document" that Robinson was supposed to hand to then-UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, replete with anti-Israel invective, did have one reference condemning firebombing attacks against synagogues in France. But the reference was deleted when a delegate from the World Council of Churches rose at the closing plenary to ask, "What does an attack on a synagogue have to do with racism?"
We Jews left the big tent that night to the whistles and catcalls of some and the utter silence of too many of the human rights elites. Hate, not hope, had carried the day...
...Just days after we left Durban, the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were launched. The Homeland Security Department is struggling to contain international terrorism. Global human rights have yet to recover from Robinson's Durban debacle.

Obama's Lie Of The Day
He must think no-one has seen this:
And no, he hasn't changed his mind -- he simply knows he can't tell the truth about his agenda, which is single-payer universal health care, plus all the power that accrues to him as a result.
More from Andrew McCarthy:
Let's take a famous epithet from the last eight years and jig it around a bit, see what we come up with, shall we?[H]ere's Obama in 2007:
My commitment is to make sure that we've got universal health care for all Americans by the end of my first term as president. I would hope that we can set up a system that allows those who can go through their employer to access a federal system or a state pool of some sort, but I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process. I can envision a decade out or 15 years out or 20 years out. [Emphasis added.]
And here he is again in 2003:
I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, is spending 14% — 14% of its gross national product on health care — cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And that's what Jim's talking about when he says, "Everybody in, nobody out," a single payer health care plan, universal health care plan. That's what I'd like to see... (Emphasis added)

These Aren't The Droids You're Looking For
Just in case you don't believe the White House, here once again is actual video footage of Obama sounding like he's saying something that he didn't really say:
Hear that? Amazing. He really sounded like he was saying what the White House says he didn't say. It's just more proof, as if more were needed, of a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy designed to make people think they can believe their own eyes and ears.
Doug Powers: A Peek Inside the Obamacare Bill: Do You Believe Democrats, or Your Lying Eyes?
Read it all here.Okay, forget about that video clip that shows Obama in 2003 saying he’s seeking a single-payer health plan.
Why listen to anyone when we can look at the actual Obamacare Bill, otherwise known as HR 3200?“But we’re not getting rid of private insurance companies.” No, just their customers — what’s the difference? Obama and the libs want to take the same approach with firearms — you don’t have to make guns illegal if you can make the ammo impossible to buy.
Technically, private insurance options won’t be illegal… but technically Hitler never outlawed kosher delicatessens, either.
The government has no plans to offer a “competitive plan.” The plan is to eliminate private options. Period. Otherwise there’s no point in the exercise. They’re not going to all this trouble to be “shown up” by the private sector. There will be no private sector in health care if this bill passes. Does a fearful aversion to “adverse selection” sound like an entity that welcomes competition?
Don’t blame the pro-Obamacare politicians for what they’re saying — some probably haven’t even read the bill. The rest are trying to pull one over. So you can either believe what they say, or your lying eyes.
Just ask yourself this: If this is so good for America, why does the Obama administration and Dems in Congress feel the need to lie so egregiously about what is and isn’t in the bill?

Awesome: Republicans Fight Back Against White House’s Chicago Thug Tactics
August, 4, 2009 — nicedeb
The following is the full press release from Darrell Issa of the House Republican Committee on Oversight and Government Reform:
August 4, 2009
WASHINGTON. D.C. – Following reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been orchestrating an effort to intimidate members of Congress and Governors who raise legitimate concerns regarding the effectiveness of the stimulus, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a letter to Emanuel saying “While this type of scare tactic may work In Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other Members of the United States Congress.”“I and others have dared to bring these facts to the attention of President Obama, the Congress and the American people,” Issa wrote. “You’ve unfortunately reacted by once again resorting to the playbook of the Chicago political machine.”
Last month, Politico reported that Emanuel had “launched a coordinated effort to jam” Senator Kyl and other Administration critics… “[A]fter seeing Kyl and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) again paint the legislation as a failure on Sunday talk shows, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel directed that the letters from the Cabinet secretaries be sent to [Governor] Brewer, according to two administration officials.”
Issa noted, “The fact that the letters were coordinated by you to maximize the level of intimidation is supported by the timing, structure, and content of each letter. Not only were the four letters all sent the day following Senator Kyl’s remarks, but they were also remarkably similar in tone and sentence structure.”
Letter from Ray LaHood, Secretary of Transportation:
On Sunday, Arizona Senator Jon Kyl publicly questioned whether the stimulus is working and stated that he wants to cancel projects that aren’t presently underway. I believe the stimulus has been very effective in creating job opportunities throughout the country. However, if you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to your state, as Senator Kyl suggests, please let me know [emphasis added].
Letter from Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior:
Some key Republican leaders in Congress have publicly questioned whether the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is working and suggested cancelling all projects that are not currently in progress. I believe they are wrong. The stimulus funds provided through the Recovery Act are a very effective way to create job opportunities throughout the Country. However, if you prefer to forfeit the money we are making available to Arizona, please let me know [emphasis added].
“At what point do you believe your practice of Chicago-style politics violates a public official’s right to speak out in favor of alternative policies,” Issa asks. “The American people have a right to know what role you played in developing the threatening letters to Governor Brewer and whether you intend to continue to engage in these tactics in the future.”
In order to assist the Committee with its investigation of this issue, please provide the following information by close of business on Tuesday, August 11, 2009:
1. Your response to Politico’s report that “White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel directed that the letters from the Cabinet secretaries be sent to [Governor] Brewer, according to two administration officials.
2. A full and complete explanation of the development of the four July 13 letters from the cabinet secretaries to Governor Brewer, including but not limited to the role you or any other White House official played in writing the letters or encouraging the writing of the letters.

Obama White House: Obamacare Informants Wanted
Unfuckingbelievable, but I like it for its huge backlash potential: the Obama White House is asking for informants to report anyone dissing Obamacare.
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.Whoa. Report e-mails and casual conversations? Now that is some Orwellian-grade shit.
Popcorn time.

ObamaJoker Goes Viral
Via Ace
ObamaJoker T-shirts, selling like hotcakes. Bumper stickers here, here and here. Poster in PDF file for printing here.
Why so serious?
UPDATE
Vanity Fair readers were all a-twitter last year when they were treated to this image of George W. Bush done up in the same fashion, but to see Opey get the same treatment? Well, that's just short of a lynching! Pity LA Week-kneed's poor little Stevie Mikulan who, always ready to rip Bush, blubbers uncontrollably at the sight of his beloved Messiah getting mocked. What a pansy-ass hypocrite.
American Thinker: "It's a long way down from lowering the oceans to laughingstock."
Mark Hemingway: "And while we're talking about double standards, I notice that L.A. Weekly blog which looked at the the Obama Joker poster and declared it so obviously racist that "the only thing missing is a noose" didn't seem to have a problem with an actual, as opposed to feverishly imagined, depiction of lynching Sarah Palin."
Jonah Goldberg: "Let's not forget this famous Village Voice cover."
The always-elegant Ace: "So to the suddenly-alarmed media: fuck y'all and go die in a fire."
THE Obamacare Single-Pay Trojan Horse Video
The YouTube title says it all:
Obama IN HIS OWN WORDS Saying His Health Care Plan Will ELIMINATE Private Insurance
"I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process..."

When Good Townhall Meetings Go Bad
Air America Co-Founder Gets Five Years Probation For Theft
Brian Maloney detailed the case and its ramifications last year, but my favorite quote is from the KITV News website:
Air America Radio ended up being a spectacular failure. Not just a failure; a spectacular failure, the kind idiots adore. Now that is solid reporting.
For the record, Air America didn't just end up being a spectacular failure; it was a spectacular failure from the very beginning because it was simply a small band of idiots broadcasting to another small band of idiots who were more broadly dispersed than the first band of idiots. On the left that's called "a business model".
Oh, and stealing $875,000 from a childrens' charity? On the left that's called "financing".
Here's a refresher course on Air America Radio's "financing" joint:
Let us recall the Good Michelle's work on the Air America Culture of Corruption.
Another Grim Milestone
TurboTax Timmy fesses up about another one of Obama's lies. This is happening at such a blistering pace these days it's getting hard to keep up:
Which would explain scenes like this yesterday in Columbus, Ohio. 7,000-plus. Hint: they ain't there to cheer Opey.
Sign Of The Times
Yeah, when they start doing this to you, it's over.
Meanwhile, another image is propagating even faster.
