Obama Rejects All Military Options For Afghanistan
Unfuckingbelievable.
Sixty five days after September 11, 2001, U.S.-led forces were in complete control of every square inch of Kabul. It has now been 74 days since General Stanley McChrystal delivered his war plan to President Dither on August 30. And still there is no decision. It's not that Obama can't make up his mind; it's that he doesn't want to. If that sounds outrageous, simply consider that Obama has been talking up a counterinsurgency strategy in Afghanistan for the better part of three years, and announced its implementation under General McChrystal in March. That's 8 months ago. The result? Nothing. It was all just more of Obama's bullshit. And now, casualties are increasing at an alarming rate.
The biggest threat to the success of the U.S. military during President Bush's two terms was the Democrats, who tried to force defeat on them in both Afghanistan and Iraq but lacked the power to do so. The only difference today is that now Democrats have the power, and they have a man in the White House who is clearly bent on hanging the American military out to dry.
As John Bolton suggests in this video, Obama's emerging pretense of waiting for a better government in Kabul is an absurdity betrayed by the whole point of being in Afghanistan - Bush led the invasion of that country to begin with precisely because of its bad government. Now Obama, who for three years dishonestly claimed President Bush had "taken his eyes off the ball" there, has dropped it completely.
