Don't Tell Your Parents
So for those folks who don't like their medical insurance company dictating their health care treatment choices, just wait until the Messiah gets hold of your chart, because if you're old, you're screwed. You'll just have to accept getting steamrolled by the Circle of Life.Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.
Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).
The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.
In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision. If the Obama administration’s economic stimulus bill passes the Senate in its current form, seniors in the U.S. will face similar rationing. Defenders of the system say that individuals benefit in younger years and sacrifice later.
I don't know that my beloved mother would have benefited from Messiahcare after her heart attack a few years ago; were the Messiah calling the shots for her she probably would have just been left for conveniently dead rather than resuscitated and still alive as she is now. But I can understand how an idiot could look past all that and mindlessly gush "Oh Yeah" at the Messiah's coronation, never mind that he would have allowed my mother to die as a matter of Medicare expediency.
Anyway, that's just one aspect of the new Messiahcare that will take personal choice in health care and put it in the hands of the Messiah. But it gets much, much worse: the new Messiahcare is but one of hundreds of government-expanding measures in this immoral, rotten looting of Americans' fortunes, rights and freedoms.
No wonder the Messiah and his Democrat minions in Congress are in such a hurry to get it past the voters, out of sight and out of mind.
Oh Yeah.
