Another Grim Milestone

In celebration of yesterday's two-year anniversary of the Fox hit late-late show Red Eye, here's part of that episode's Gregalogue:
As simple as the premise may be, Red Eye is a tough show to describe – it's intentionally stupid, but secretly smart - a strategy designed to confuse people who deserve to be confused: bitter liberals, tortured media whores, angry activists. We gauged our success on the groups we manage to turn into sputtering messes – whether it be PETA, GLAAD, Media Matters, and the finger sniffers at assorted left wing blogs. The strategy was based on an idea I coined, called "The Dean Wormer Effect," named after the hapless character from the classic film Animal House. For so long, in movies and tv, non-liberals were always portrayed as stiff, shrill joyless types – typified by Dean Wormer. The stereotype went completely unquestioned, but it was totally dishonest. My goal at Red Eye was to reverse that polarity: to turn the lefties who think they`re edgy and cool into contemporary Dean Wormers – because in their hearts that`s what they are - PC crybabies determined to root out all the fun in the world. In a word: jackasses.

And it worked.
