Be Careful What You Vote For
Case in point: the Palestinians. They don't want to live side-by-side with Israel. They don't want peace; they knowingly and overwhelmingly elected a government festering with Islamofascist monsters pledged to destroy Israel and declare unending war on the infidel. They've destroyed everything offered and given them by the Israelis and the rest of the civilized world. Now, they're getting what they asked for, and so will the rest of the region, all while the MSM and the critics of Israel carry on in denial.

As for the Palestinians, they voted for it; they can wear it. Democracy is about taking responsibility.

It will not be long before al Qaeda's representatives are firmly ensconced in Gaza --they may already be there, and the distinction between Hamas and al Qaeda, like the distinction between Hezbollah and Iran, may already be more academic than real. The connections between Sunni Islamist radicalism and Shia Islamist radicalism are also obvious, and do not appear to be at all troubled by the savage sectarian blows one delivers the other in various cities around Iraq. It is very confusing for the Western media eager for a storyline that makes Bush the prime mover behind the world's troubles, but the blindness of the Beltway-Manhattan media elites doesn't give an excuse to the political leadership in D.C.Read it all, and also visit Arab-hater Charles Johnson's LGF for regular updates.
The fall of Gaza to radical Islamist totalitarians with a deep desire to destroy Israel completely and a certain receptivity to terrorists eager to strike at Europe and the U.S. is the worst news since 9/11. That it is hardly noticed by a media eager to see Libby join Hilton in jail underscores the incredible absurdity of our time.
NRO's editors weigh in:
Already, the Bush administration has been blamed for the budding civil war. It has supposedly ignored the Palestinians, creating the conditions for this outbreak of violence. At least this is a novel argument: Usually the U.S. is blamed when Palestinians kill Israelis (and the Israelis retaliate), not when Palestinians kill one another. Actually, the administration has been working to prop up the ineffectual Abbas. As for Hamas, no amount of aid or “engagement” would turn it from its maximalist goals. Where the administration can be faulted is in thinking a little over a year ago that an election featuring an armed terrorist group, in the form of Hamas, could be productive. Fundamentally, what is happening in Gaza is the Palestinians’ own tragedy, although it is one with far-reaching consequences.Question: When will the idiot left employ their beloved "civil war" pejorative to describe how Palestinians are slaughtering each other?
David Frum wraps it up:
In their struggle for control of the Palestinian movement, Hamas and Fatah between them have killed the Palestinian state.Iranian-sponsored Islamic fascists have consumed Gaza, swarmed onto Israel's doorstep and look poised to strike. I hope the Israelis are ready.
