The Palestinian propaganda campaign is set to claim a victory in Britain. Melanie Phillips alerts us to the accelerated intellectual downfall of British academia in The monstrous regiment of university teachers: "What is notable about the AUT motion is that it reflects the truly shocking ignorance of the region's history and current political reality, the resulting deep gullibility to propaganda based on lies, and the consequent vicious double standards and prejudice that now characterise British received opinion on the subject of Israel. Yet these are our university teachers, the very people responsible for shaping the assumptions of a society, whose own profound ignorance, prejudice and twisted morality are now on such conspicuous display."

When the only means for Jewish academics to maintain standing in their profession is to denounce, in the AUT's words, Israel's "colonial and racist policies", then ignorance, bigotry and totalitarianism in Britain's universities has well and truly won.
