The Strange Case of Giuliana Sgrena
The story - I beg your pardon; stories - of Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena are all over the internet. Retrieved from kidnappers in Iraq by truly valiant Italian agents in exchange for a ransom from her government, Sgrena's car came under fire from American troops bent on killing her because she is a journalist. Need I remind you that the first-degree murder of journalists is American policy in Iraq? You did see the memo from Eason Jordan, didn't you?
As for how anyone or anything made it through a fusillade of three to four hundred rounds of ammunition from anything American without being torn to shreds - well now we got ourselves a Genuine Mystery.
Dr. Rusty Shackleford at My Pet Jawa takes a detailed look.
