On the morning of September 11, 2001 a business associate called me from his home in Wisconsin and asked me if I was watching the TV. I replied that I hadn't even gotten up yet, what with being on the west coast two time zones behind him.

"Well get up and turn it on" he said, "looks like we're at war. Not sure with whom just yet but I guess we'll find out soon enough." He told me that a plane had flown into the World Trade Center and it seemed intentional from the latest reports. We talked for another few minutes before we said goodbye and I began wondering if I should keep my son home from school.

As I watched the first tower being consumed in an inferno live on CNN, another plane slammed into the second tower at 500 miles per hour.

3,650 days have passed since then. It has been an unimaginable ordeal for countless and mostly unheralded heroes from that day on, and the fight continues against the animals who struck that day.

And now I pray for Western civilization every day.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu electrified Congress with this eloquent speech in which he makes the overwhelming case for Israel against the savages surrounding it. A crucial point:

"Of the 300 million Arabs in the Middle East and North Africa, only Israel's Arab citizens enjoy real democratic rights. Now, I want you to stop for a second and think about that. Of those 300 million Arabs, less than one-half of 1 percent are truly free and they're all citizens of Israel. This startling fact reveals a basic truth: Israel is not what is wrong with about the Middle East; Israel is what is right about the Middle East."

Having watched it live on Fox, I agree with Scott Johnson's evaluation; this was a great, Churchillian speech. Rush liked it too:

Throughout this speech I kept shouting at the TV, "Run, Bibi, run!" He-he-he. We can find a birth certificate for you somewhere, Philadelphia, Hawaii, or what have you. He spoke without a prompter. He's got some notes. He leans on the podium. What we're hearing, what you see, here is somebody who's very at home behind the microphone. He's entirely comfortable. It's easy when you actually believe what you are saying. ...

There are a lot of things in this speech. It went on for about 45 minutes, and I really do not want to try to paraphrase or repeat it. You really have to hear this speech as given.

It's a lesson in commitment. It is a lesson in confidence. It is a lesson in statecraft and leadership. This was an epic, epic speech. It was a lesson for Republicans in dealing with President Obama, even though all Netanyahu did was praise President Obama today. That's all he did. There was nothing partisan in the speech whatsoever other than his obvious love and support for his nation of Israel. But it was filled with humor, it was filled with goose bump seriousness. It ran the emotional gamut, it ran the intellectual gamut. The timing was flawless. Just a fabulous speech. The lesson that is there for people is to say what you mean, to say it confidently, to be fearless, and don't feel the need to excuse what you think or make excuses for how you feel.

You can hear the disdain in his answer:

“If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon, you know,” Obama said laughingly. “You might want to think about a trade-in.”

In other words, if you don't have the money to buy the gasoline you need, then go buy a new car. Which, when you think about it, pretty much sums up His approach to the economy.

Knowing what Samantha Power wants reveals a great deal about Barack Obama’s own ideological commitments. It’s not just a question of whether he shares Power’s long-term internationalist goals, although it’s highly likely that he does. Power’s thinking also represents a bridge of sorts between Obama’s domestic- and foreign-policy aspirations. Beyond that, Power embodies a style of pragmatic radicalism that Obama shares. Both Obama and Power are skilled at placing their ultimate ideological goals just out of sight, behind a screen of practical problem-solving...

Obama may not have been completely frank about the broader ideological goals behind this intervention, and yet the president’s address to the nation, as far as it went, was largely accurate. Fundamentally, our Libyan operation is a humanitarian action, with no clear or inevitable military-strategic purpose beyond that. There is enormous risk here, and no endgame. Samantha Power has a lot to teach us about Barack Obama. She herself draws analogies between the need to redistribute wealth via health-care coverage and the need to divide military and diplomatic power (and, implicitly, wealth) more evenly through the international system. Power regularly invokes arguments for international law derived from America’s Founders and the West’s great liberal thinkers, as if her goal were the founding of a government of the world. In truth, that is what Power is up to, even if she sees her project as a long-term collective effort necessarily extending beyond her own lifetime.

The novel doctrine of “responsibility to protect,” which Power means the Libyan action to enshrine in international law, could someday be used to justify military intervention to impose a “two-state solution” on Israel (apparently this is one of Power’s longstanding goals, although she now disavows it). The International Criminal Court, which Power has long defended, may someday enable the leftist Europeans who run it to place American soldiers and politicians on trial for supposed war crimes. The Obama administration’s troubling acquiescence in the development of sweeping international prohibitions on “aggression” may one day make virtually any use of force not pre-approved by the United Nations subject to international sanctions. These are the long-term goals of Power’s policies, although they are seldom confessed or discussed.

It's simple: 'ere his every utterance, the opposite is almost certainly true. NRO's Greg Pollowitz has a great example in the final 2008 debate between Senators McCain and Obama:

MR. OBAMA Well, this is an area where Senator McCain and I have a fundamental difference because, I think, the first question is whether we should have gone into the war in the first place.

Now, six years ago, I stood up and opposed this war, at a time when it was politically risky to do so, because I said that not only did we not know how much it was going to cost, what our exit strategy might be, how it would affect our relationships around the world and whether our intelligence was sound but also because we hadn’t finished the job in Afghanistan. We hadn’t caught bin Laden. We hadn’t put Al Qaeda to rest. And as a consequence, I thought that it was going to be a distraction.

Now, Senator McCain and President Bush had a very different judgment. And I wish I had been wrong, for the sake of the country, and they had been right. But that’s not the case.

We’ve spent over $600 billion so far, soon to be a trillion. We have lost over 4,000 lives. We have seen 30,000 wounded. And most importantly from a strategic, national security perspective, Al Qaeda is resurgent, stronger now than at any time since 2001.

We took our eye off the ball and not to mention that we are still spending $10 billion a month, when they have a $79 billion surplus, at a time when we are in great distress here at home and we just talked about the fact that our budget is way overstretched, and we are borrowing money from overseas to try to finance just some of the basic functions of our government.

So I think the lesson to be drawn is that we should never hesitate to use military force, and I will not as president in order to keep the American people safe. But we have to use our military wisely, and we did not use our military wisely in Iraq.

But somehow this inexplicable Libya thing is just what we need. Read the followup questions and ponder.

Today we learn that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is fed up with President Present over his paralysis on Lybia (also known by everyone but, well, Barack Obama, as "Libya"), and that she is angrily looking for exits.

Not happily, mind you, nor even indifferently; angrily. And you don't want Hillary angry with you. Oh no. Especially when she is in a position to destroy you after you so viciously took her down in 2008.

Now that is delicious: the Clintons are positioning themselves to deliver payback to the bird-flipping punk who, as BJ was regrettably heard to remark, would have been serving them coffee not so long ago.

Now: I am no fan of the Clintons, especially their contempt for the hired help, but I do respect their political instincts. I think they smell Obama's blood in the water after his Libya fiasco, and the leak from a Clinton insider to the Daily.com is the first nibble in what could be a long and bloody feast leading up to November 2012.

Hamze confronted Congressman West and asked him to point out where in the Koran does it give marching orders to Muslims “to carry out attacks against Americans and innocent people”. West quickly pointed out that the Koran was written long before America even existed and that it does indeed tell believers to kill infidels, and then proceeded to chronicle a lengthy list of historical Muslim acts of aggression. Congressman West closed his retort by referencing the Fort Hood shootings and 9-11 attacks, saying that his first hand experiences on the battlefield has given him insight into the tactics that Islamists use before telling Hamze not to “try to blow sunshine up my butt” with his criticism of him. West took offense to Hamze’s amateurish criticism of his stance on radical Islam and concluded by telling Mr. Hamze to “put the microphone down and go home.”

Methinks Allen West is going to be a thorn in the side of CAIR and their fellow Islamist travellers for years to come.

Hear the whistle blowing in the background through the whole thing? That would be the teachers and union protestors trying to interrupt or interfere with the the Pledge of Allegiance. Not unlike many who do the same when it's recited during school. This is a full description of my experience at the protest and rally on capitol square in Madison, WI, on 2/20/2011.

I wandered to the capitol after the Polar Plunge to see what it was like for myself. My husband and I walked the square, listened to the union speakers protesting against the bill, and then went to listen to the supporters. We had never been to a political protest or rally before. It was a beautiful day, with positive people, in a supportive atmosphere. We walked by displays set up by several socialist groups, and doctors giving fraudulent notes to teachers so they can get paid with taxpayer money for protesting. I was very surprised and disturbed by this.

At the rally supporting the bill we agreed with most of what we heard, especially "Joe the Plummer" and the last young woman who spoke: they seemed to say everything we hear around our kitchen table and from friends and family in our everyday lives.

But then there was the mob that everyone had to go through to get to and from the area for the support rally. I wish I had video taped trying to leave. I had no sign, and was not an active participant - but I experienced first-hand the intimidation and hostility of either union mercenaries, or even worse, of the good people who have been getting whipped into an exhausted and desperate state by the union sponsored liberal rhetoric and atmosphere.

They stood blocking the way, leaving only a narrow two-person-wide space for thousands to funnel through. It was scary, claustrophic, and made me feel panicked. They glared, yelled, and one guy pushed me so hard I flew two feet forward. I thought my husband was going to lose it, so we stopped and just stood to the side where we were. I watched a lot of people from the rally pass in front of me experiencing the same thing. I saw middle class, working class people who looked liked my sister, my mother, my son or daughter, my neighbors... being taunted and intimidated by a mob hoping to provoke mayhem or violence. I looked for police help to secure a path or help with our exit, but I only saw them standing in isolated clusters amongst themselves, the nearest over 50 feet away from the crowd.

As a member of the union, I'm ashamed and horrified. As a public school teacher, I'm confused and disheartened to see so many people I admire support this behavior and even worse: join in pimping our children to further their political agenda. As the daughter of a police officer, I'm heartbroken to experience their callous indifference for my safety, that I can only understand as their passive support for protestors, and which makes them complicit in the intimidation.

Well that experience has led to these two independent voters, who have been fiscally conservative but socially divided on many issues, to a new understanding of how politics, unions, and the media work. I'm glad I didn't rely on the descriptions and information from others about this issue. I saw the reality for myself, and we have both decided to stay actively involved. We will not trust or rely on any media to deliver primary information or facts. It really is true: there is biased reporting and organized, liberal oppression and hostility for all other viewpoints. I'm just little nobody wife, mom, and teacher in small town Wisconsin, and I experienced it.

Please don't believe Hitler's description of the Jews, the opponents description of his enemy, or the liberal government / media reports on conservative groups or politics. Go see for yourself.

As a public service, here is the countering letter in its entirety, with links below to the letter and the report to which it refers:

On 28 January 2011, eighteen scientists sent a letter to members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate urging them to "take a fresh look at climate change." Their intent, apparently, was to disparage the views of scientists who disagree with their contention that continued business-as-usual increases in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions produced from the burning of coal, gas, and oil will lead to a host of cataclysmic climate-related problems.

We, the undersigned, totally disagree with them and would like to take this opportunity to briefly state our side of the story.

The eighteen climate alarmists (as we refer to them, not derogatorily, but simply because they view themselves as "sounding the alarm" about so many things climatic) state that the people of the world "need to prepare for massive flooding from the extreme storms of the sort being experienced with increasing frequency," as well as the "direct health impacts from heat waves" and "climate-sensitive infectious diseases," among a number of other devastating phenomena. And they say that "no research results have produced any evidence that challenges the overall scientific understanding of what is happening to our planet's climate," which is understood to mean their view of what is happening to Earth's climate.

To these statements, however, we take great exception. It is the eighteen climate alarmists who appear to be unaware of "what is happening to our planet's climate," as well as the vast amount of research that has produced that knowledge.

For example, a lengthy review of their claims and others that climate alarmists frequently make can be found on the Web site of the Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change (see http://www.co2science.org/education/reports/prudentpath/prudentpath.php). That report offers a point-by-point rebuttal of all of the claims of the "group of eighteen," citing in every case peer-reviewed scientific research on the actual effects of climate change during the past several decades.

If the "group of eighteen" pleads ignorance of this information due to its very recent posting, then we call their attention to an even larger and more comprehensive report published in 2009, Climate Change Reconsidered: The 2009 Report of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC). That document has been posted for more than a year in its entirety at http://www.nipccreport.org/.

These are just two recent compilations of scientific research among many we could cite. Do the 678 scientific studies referenced in the CO2 Science document, or the thousands of studies cited in the NIPCC report, provide real-world evidence (as opposed to theoretical climate model predictions) for global warming-induced increases in the worldwide number and severity of floods? No. In the global number and severity of droughts? No. In the number and severity of hurricanes and other storms? No. Do they provide any real-world evidence of Earth's seas inundating coastal lowlands around the globe? No. Increased human mortality? No. Plant and animal extinctions? No. Declining vegetative productivity? No. More frequent and deadly coral bleaching? No. Marine life dissolving away in acidified oceans? No.

Quite to the contrary, in fact, these reports provide extensive empirical evidence that these things are not happening. And in many of these areas, the referenced papers report finding just the opposite response to global warming, i.e., biosphere-friendly effects of rising temperatures and rising CO2 levels.
In light of the profusion of actual observations of the workings of the real world showing little or no negative effects of the modest warming of the second half of the twentieth century, and indeed growing evidence of positive effects, we find it incomprehensible that the eighteen climate alarmists could suggest something so far removed from the truth as their claim that no research results have produced any evidence that challenges their view of what is happening to Earth's climate and weather.

But don't take our word for it. Read the two reports yourselves. And then make up your own minds about the matter. Don't be intimidated by false claims of "scientific consensus" or "overwhelming proof." These are not scientific arguments and they are simply not true.

Like the eighteen climate alarmists, we urge you to take a fresh look at climate change. We believe you will find that it is not the horrendous environmental threat they and others have made it out to be, and that they have consistently exaggerated the negative effects of global warming on the U.S. economy, national security, and public health, when such effects may well be small to negligible.

The decision contains this analogy by Judge Vinson, which almost reads like a draft rule from Cass Sunstein's Office of the Czar of Regulatory Overload (and, as we will see, is drawn directly from Obama's 2008 primary campaign against Hillary Clinton):

Or what if two of the purported “unique” factors [of the health-care market] — inevitable participation coupled with cost-shifting — are present? For example, virtually no one can opt out of the housing market (broadly defined) and a majority of people will at some point buy a home. The vast majority of those homes will be financed with a mortgage, a large number of which (particularly in difficult economic times, as we have seen most recently) will go into default, thereby cost-shifting billions of dollars to third parties and the federal government. Should Congress thus have power under the Commerce Clause to preemptively regulate and require individuals above a certain income level to purchase a home financed with a mortgage (and secured with mortgage guaranty insurance) in order to add stability to the housing and financial markets (and to guard against the possibility of future cost-shifting because of a defaulted mortgage), on the theory that most everyone is currently, or inevitably one day will be, active in the housing market?

Further, the government lawyers argued that the Act was not severable; the court acknowledged their premise, declaring the entire monstrosity unconstitutional, with good reason:

In the final analysis, this Act has been analogized to a finely crafted watch, and that seems to fit. It has approximately 450 separate pieces, but one essential piece (the individual mandate) is defective and must be removed. It cannot function as originally designed. There are simply too many moving parts in the Act and too many provisions dependent (directly and indirectly) on the individual mandate and other health insurance provisions — which, as noted, were the chief engines that drove the entire legislative effort — for me to try and dissect out the proper from the improper, and the able-to-stand-alone from the unable-to-stand-alone. Such a quasi-legislative undertaking would be particularly inappropriate in light of the fact that any statute that might conceivably be left over after this analysis is complete would plainly not serve Congress’ main purpose and primary objective in passing the Act. The statute is, after all, called “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” not “The Abstinence Education and Bone Marrow Density Testing Act.” The Act, like a defectively designed watch, needs to be redesigned and reconstructed by the watchmaker.

If Congress intends to implement health care reform — and there would appear to be widespread agreement across the political spectrum that reform is needed — it should do a comprehensive examination of the Act and make a legislative determination as to which of its hundreds of provisions and sections will work as intended without the individual mandate, and which will not. It is Congress that should consider and decide these quintessentially legislative questions, and not the courts…

Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire Act must be declared void. This has been a difficult decision to reach, and I am aware that it will have indeterminable implications. At a time when there is virtually unanimous agreement that health care reform is needed in this country, it is hard to invalidate and strike down a statute titled “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”

Big, big victory for the Constitution. It's all still headed for the Supremes but, in the meantime, per Nancy Pelosi, Judge Vinson read the legislation, saw what's in it, and rejected it on Constitutional grounds.

I have been surprised by the extent to which conservative commentators like Rich Lowry, Charles Krauthammer and others have lavished praise on Obama for what I thought was a thoroughly cynical and dishonest performance in his Tucson speech, beginning with the fact that he actually changed his hair color for the occasion.

Now Byron York has taken a second look at the speech, which can only be fully evaluated in light of the days leading up to it in which Obama's supporters scandalously tried to pin blame for the shootings on the right, and in the context of what Obama surely wanted it to do for him politically:

Imagine a calculating Democratic political strategist. What would he have wanted Obama to accomplish in the Tucson speech? He would have wanted the president to send the message that the political debate has gotten too rough and should be moderated. Democrats believe that message favors them; they have had much success characterizing, and mis-characterizing, statements by figures like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Rush Limbaugh and others as potential incitements to violence. Democrats want a debate about rhetoric because they think they can win it.
But since it was impossible to tie the violence in Tucson to Republican rhetoric, the president couldn't very well use the shootings as the premise for a national conversation about the tone of political debate, could he? Yes, he could. It might seem like a stretch -- even to a calculating Democratic strategist -- for Obama to portray Jared Loughner's insanity as the proper starting point for a national debate about civility in politics. Yet that is what he did.

And employing a tactic that in a less sentimental atmosphere would have been seen as breathtakingly cynical, Obama enlisted Christina Taylor Green, the nine year-old girl killed in the shootings, to support his cause. "She saw [politics] through the eyes of a child, undimmed by the cynicism or vitriol that we adults all too often take just for granted," Obama said. "I want to live up to her expectations. I want our democracy to be as good as she imagined it. All of us -- we should do everything we can to make sure this country lives up to our children's expectations."

How can America live up to Christina's expectations? According to Obama, by making sure that her death "helps usher in more civility in our public discourse…because only a more civil and honest public discourse can help us face up to the challenges of our nation in a way that would make [the victims] proud." In other words: Christina would have wanted us to tone down the rhetoric. The calculating Democratic strategist would have been very, very happy.

The latest example is her use of the term "blood libel" to describe the intelligence-insulting charges leveled by the left wing media complex against the right, especially Palin herself (tellingly, there wasn't a peep from these same idiots earlier in the week when Glenn Reynolds, writing on the same subject, used the term in the WSJ).

The links are out there to the various examples of the resulting faux outrage, chief among them Howard Kurtz, Ruth Marcus and Andrea MitchellMSNBCNEWS, who haughtily declared Palin's use of the term "ignorant." But it is in fact Mitchell and her ilk who are ignorant, as demonstrated by Alan Dershowitz and, more recently, by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, who writes in the WSJ:

Despite the strong association of the term with collective Jewish guilt and concomitant slaughter, Sarah Palin has every right to use it. The expression may be used whenever an amorphous mass is collectively accused of being murderers or accessories to murder. The abominable element of the blood libel is not that it was used to accuse Jews, but that it was used to accuse innocent Jews—their innocence, rather than their Jewishness, being the operative point. Had the Jews been guilty of any of these heinous acts, the charge would not have been a libel...

How unfortunate that some have chosen to compound a national tragedy by politicizing the murder of six innocent lives and the attempted assassination of a congresswoman.

Now: for the honest and sane among us, it doesn't take the authority of a prominent Jewish law professor or a rabbi to prove that Palin's charge is only common sense, but it is always necessary when dealing with a pack of partisan liars, especially ones masquerading as impartial journalists.

Those who slammed Palin for her use of the term "blood libel" are all either ignorant, duplicitous or both, the latter being by far the most likely, as usual, especially given their own generous use of the term and their unquestioning acceptance of its use by everyone but Palin. Hell, they buy into blood libel themselves as they see fit, as in the case of the al Durah lie, the falsified Reuters photos and the Jenin fiasco.

It’s all “do as I say, not as I do” with Obama, who through his proxies has seized on the Tucson murders as the best pretense yet for stifling freedom of expression for conservative voices in America. Obama’s invocation of our better natures is nothing but a hudna, intended to lull those he has already declared “the enemy” into a sense of false security before he lowers the boom with another slew of freedom-killing measures.

Anyone who thinks otherwise has been had by the Charlatan-In-Chief. The idiots spent the entire weekend blaming the Arizona killings on Americans who disagree with their political agenda. Rush Limbaugh responded this morning to the left wing media complex's orgy of lies against the American people:

Here's a partial list of some of the incidents the left has tried to pin on conservatives. The Columbine shooters. The 1995 Oklahoma City bombing (specifically they tried to blame me for that). The DC sniper. The New York City Times Square car bomb attempt. They tried to blame that on some Tea Partier angry at the health law, then we find out that was radical Islamists. The February 2010 IRS plane attack in San Antonio. Remember that? It had to be an anti-government clown that flew that plane into the IRS office, had to be. The Pentagon subway shooter. The Fort Hood attack. The Discovery Channel hostage taker. And this guy [John Patrick] Bedell who went into the Pentagon and wanted to shoot these people up. This guy, by the way, is a dead ringer for Loughner. Amy Bishop who shot her colleagues at that Alabama college.
The list goes on and on and on. They are countless. The list actually is never ending of incidents like this where the media is damn certain, damn well certain they can give Obama his OKC bombing. They can give a Democrat president some kind of massive murder or disaster caused by conservatives. That remains the number one effort. They sit around and they wait for these events to happen, hoping and praying that what they know are lies -- what they know are false allegations, nonexistent associations -- can somehow be made to be believed by the public at large. How come it took the media so long to discover that there is an altar in the Loughner backyard? This kid was into the occult. Was there God in this guy's life? The kid was evil. He was insane. Was God in his life? You can't ask that, I guess. A media army has been camped out in Arizona for two solid days. They didn't want to report that there is an altar with a skull devoted to all kinds of occult, odd things in this kid's backyard because that would undercut their message that this was a Tea Party-type guy. So they can't report some things here that be absolutely true, so hell-bent are they on perpetuating a fraud. It really is embarrassing. It's even beneath them.

Well, not really. And yet I am still agog at the brazenness of the left's tactics in the aftermath of what should be something - for God's sake - anything else but what they have tried to make of it.

But they want to shut down dissent, and today they see Jared Loughner's insanity, and the tragedy it has wrought, as the means to that end. And that right there is the biggest threat America faces today.

Which is it?

I understand the desperation that Democrats must feel after taking a historic beating in the midterm elections and seeing the popularity of ObamaCare plummet while voters flee the party in droves. But those who purport to care about the health of our political community demonstrate precious little actual concern for America's political well-being when they seize on any pretext, however flimsy, to call their political opponents accomplices to murder.

On strictly Constitutional grounds, Olbermann has no defense since he accepted MSLSD's conditions of employment when he signed on. If company policy says you can't contribute to a political party then that's that. But that doesn't stop Andrew McCarthy from his tongue-in-cheek assertion that the First Amendment should prevail in favor of Keef, and that if it doesn't, then something is certainly afoul.

American Spectator: The Winner: Rush Limbaugh

Writing in the American Spectator, former Reagan White House political director Jeffrey Lord has nailed the story behind last night's unmitigated slaughter of the Obama Democrats, a story that began with Rush Limbaugh's now famous four words: "I hope he fails."

With those words, Limbaugh drew the Obama White House into a two-year public battle in which they employed Saul Alinskey's infamous Rule Number 12 or 13 or whatever:

As Obama and his aides began relentlessly pushing exactly the far-left agenda that Limbaugh so publicly predicted would fail, they decided to bring the hardball of Chicago politics into play: they would intimidate their opponents by making an example of America's number one conservative talk radio star. .

Which is exactly the point where the path to the conservative victory of 2010 began.

A MERE THREE DAYS after Obama took office, Republican congressional leaders were ushered into the White House for their first formal meeting with the new president. Wary of Obama proposals for a massive stimulus bill, with a huge health care bill looming beyond that, they sat quietly as Obama's Limbaugh strategy began to unfold. Borrowing a tactic from Rules for Radicals, the handbook written by Obama's hero the late Chicago radical community activist Saul Alinsky, Obama the one-time community activist become president lectured the astonished GOP leadership, saying pointedly "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done." The Republicans were barely out the door before the story leaked, causing a media feeding frenzy as the White House knew it would.

With that, the stage for the entire next two-years was set. The looming battle over the direction of America would be deliberately, willfully cast -- by the White House itself -- as a battle royal between the President of the United States and Rush Limbaugh. The specific tactic to be employed was Rule Number 12 of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. Which reads this way:
RULE 12: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it." Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)
The Rule 12 signal was flashed by the White House to every Democrat on Capitol Hill along with every Obama ally in the media: the President personally is going to lead the charge against Rush Limbaugh and he was inviting them to join the fray.

Whatever issue was being debated -- the stimulus, health care, immigration, the topic didn't matter -- Rush Limbaugh was to be the highly personalized target of the Obama White House and all of the American Left. They would freeze his image in the public mind in as unfavorable and polarizing a fashion as they could manage. Then Limbaugh would be assaulted repeatedly in the style of Rule 12 as the next two years unfolded.

With the liberal media, the Soros propaganda juggernaut and "sunshine conservatives" on their side, the Obama White House thought it had a winning strategy, but it was Limbaugh who held the upper hand, because he knew something that his attackers had failed to take into account: when you attack Rush Limbaugh, you also attack middle America.

In the drive to target Rush Limbaugh, millions of Americans -- from fellow talk radio stars to Fox News to the vast audience of average Americans -- listened and watched these White House-directed anti-Limbaugh screeds first with amazement, then a growing incredulity which finally gave way to outrage.

Why?

Because all knew at the end of the day that as sure as God made little green apples what began with Rush would end with everyday Americans. You. Your friends. Your neighbors. The barber, the housewife, the independent, the Catholic, Protestant, or Jew and, yes, the law-abiding everyday Muslim. The college student, the entrepreneur, the doctor, the plumber. Americans all -- every one dreaming dreams that somebody in Washington from the President on down was scheming to control, to limit, to regulate, to tax -- and ultimately control to the point of ruin. And sure enough, like clockwork, as the Tea Party burst into existence these average Americans were targeted just as was Rush. Now it wasn't just Rush who was being smeared, the Obama/Pelosi/Reid/liberal media attack machine had turned against these everyday Americans, savaging them as nothing more than a collection of racists, Nazis, and "teabaggers," for resisting their obsession with controlling Americans' every last movement in life while spending the country into trillions of debt as far as the next several generations could see. Americans who had heard Rush predict that the Obama-era would bring an all-out assault on American values realized just short of the nick-of-time not only that he was right, but that it was up to them to stop this assault in its tracks.

And so they did.

Obama, as Rush Limbaugh predicted, has in fact now failed. Nancy Pelosi is out of a job. And thanks to Rush Limbaugh, a new generation of Americans is learning that conservatism is not simply cool -- more importantly they are learning collectivism isn't smart.

Thankfully, last night's results are proof that the American people are taking those hard-won lessons to heart. The voters have in effect instructed their representatives in Washington and at the state level to put the brakes on Obama's destructive agenda with all haste and with every tool at their disposal. Obama and his remaining minions will fight them at their peril.

And Rush Limbaugh's four words insured that outcome before Obama was even immaculated.
